Yuánfèn (缘分)

Chapter 8

"Anyu, what are you doing here?" Shen Yue asks, "I didn't know you knew them." she points to Kuan, Xize and Connor.

"Yue! How are you?" Anyu squeezes her hand. "Why is it that every time we meet you are more and more beautiful?"

Wang He Di watches the two with curiosity.

"She is really beautiful!" Connor adds and Wang He Di gives him a cold look.

Shen Yue smiles, embarrassed.

"You just need to grow up!" Anyu scoffs.

Shen Yue punches him in the arm. Connor, Xize and Kuan laugh while Anyu defends himself from her. "I'm not short, you're too tall."

Watching Shen Yue play with Anyu, Wang He Di becomes more frustrated. He doesn't know if it's because she's ignoring him or if he's just uncomfortable with her mere presence. "Shouldn't you be preparing for the photos?" he asks in a bad mood.

Shen Yue looks at him and jumps up pretending to be scared, "Wow! Are you there?!"

Wang He Di rolls his eyes and she laughs.

"I didn't know you two knew each other." Anyu says.

"We do not know each other." Wang He Di responds.

"It's true," she agrees.

Anyu exchanges suspicious looks with Xize, Connor and Kuan while Shen Yue and Wang He Di argue.

"If you knew me, you would fall in love with me." she winks at him, then bites her lip and smiles. He felt a shiver run through his body, but he averted his eyes from her lips.

"Shen Yue, they are brothers." Xize explains.

"What?!?" she looks surprised at Anyu and then at Wang He Di, "How?!" she questions, "I've known you for eight months and you just introduced me to Zi Wei..."

"It's a long story..." Anyu responds.

"But she doesn't need to know the story." says Wang He Di.

"Tsk!" Shen Yue approaches him and gestures with her hand for him to come closer. He leans over and she stands on her tiptoes to whisper something in his ear, "You need to get a girlfriend to ease this bad mood." she whispers.

Wang He Di is shocked by Shen Yue's audacity but he can't react. He feels her warm breath close to his ear and strangely, he likes the feeling she gives him. Suddenly, he turns his head and fixes his gaze on her. She feels her cheeks burn. The moment only lasts a few seconds, but it's enough to make him want to kiss her.

"Do you want to be alone?" Connor provokes them both.

She turns away from him, shy.

"Well, I need to change my clothes." Shen Yue says trying to hide the tension.

"Yue," Anyu calls her, "please don't tell Annie I'm here. I want to surprise her."

Shen Yue agrees and says goodbye to them.

Anyu comes close to Wang He Di, "Are you interested in Yue?" Anyu asks.

"Of course not!" he responds.

"He says he hates her." Xize says sarcastically.

Anyu stares at her brother with interest, "You said you don't know her so what's the reason to hate her?"

"Leave him alone!" Kuan demands, "if he doesn't want to say anything, we have to respect that."

Wang He Di looks at his friend gratefully.
