Chapter 15

Shen Yue enters the office and finds Dee Shu sitting behind her computer, on a call. She motions for Shen Yue to sit on one of the chairs, "it's Xiao Zhan," Dee Shu whispers. Shen Yue curiously watches as the manager chats with a big smile on her lips. When the call ends, the elegant woman crosses her arms a little annoyed, "whose idea was it for you to spend a whole day off our radar?"

"Sorry, but I needed to do this."

"Who were you with?"

Shen Yue hesitates, but she knows she needs to respond, "I was with Zi Wei," she says.

Dee Shu looks at her suspiciously, but decides to change the subject, "I want to show you your December schedule."

"I'm looking forward to it!"

Wasting no time, Dee Shu takes a folder from the drawer and hands Shen Yue a draft with some dates scheduled for endorsements, variety show, New Year's concert and photo shoot for some magazines.

"Shanghai variety show taping ends this month and then you have a week off."

"Will I have a free week?!" Shen Yue speaks excitedly.

"You shouldn't, but yes. You will have a week off."

Shen Yue smothers a smile when she notices that Dee Shu is still upset that she turned off her cell phone the day before.

"We have three variety shows where you will do other activities besides singing. We have one endorsement for Dior, one for Kiehl's and one for Celine with Wu Lei..."

"The Christmas advertisement?"

"Exactly!"

"Is the New Year's concert already confirmed?"

"The production of the event called me yesterday to confirm. Did you have plans for the new year's day?" Dee Shu asks suspiciously.

"No. I just thought about going to see my parents if there was nothing scheduled."

Dee Shu stares at her thoughtfully for a moment, "I know you're working hard, but it will pay off soon," she says affectionately.

Shen Yue agrees with a small smile.

"Yue, was Wang He Di with you?"

"Why are you asking this?" she pretends not to understand Dee Shu's question.

"Tsk! Xiao Zhan told me he didn't show up on W2LK this morning, so I connected the dots."

Shen Yue looks away.

"Remember, Yue, you can't date now. We have a deal..."

"I will never forget the deal, Dee Shu, since you remind me of it every day!" she says with dismay.

"The company lost a lot of money because of your ex boyfriend."

"I know!"

"We wouldn't let anyone defame you, but money doesn't fall from the sky. Dating is now bad for business, we would take a huge loss in your fan club if that happens."

"Then why don't you say anything when there are rumors of dating between Xiao Zhan and me, if we are just friends?" Shen Yue asks upset.

"You need to learn what's worth keeping and what's not," Dee Shu responds with irony.

Shen Yue feels like saying many things to the Manager, but with teary eyes she decides to remain silent.

"If there is a rumor of dating someone who has no connection with you, people will start investigating and they would soon find out the reason for your going to Wuxi..."
