Chapter 19

At dawn, Wang He Di takes Shen Yue to the hotel where she is staying. As he drives, he watches her discreetly. Dressed in an oversized sweatshirt, Shen Yue stretches out in the passenger seat, in a cute way.

"Yue, why did you insist on coming so early? I wanted to prepare a special breakfast for you."

"I arranged to meet Dee Shu and Xiao Zhan at 9 am," she yawns a little sleepily.

"Tsk! But the sun hasn't even risen yet. Acting like that, it looks like you're doing something wrong," Wang He Di says suspiciously.

Shen Yue knows it's no use giving Wang He Di any answer just to reassure him. She knows it's best to tell the truth. With an amiable expression, she watches him for a moment.

"Why are you looking at me that way?" Wang He Di asks shyly.

"You are so beautiful in the morning!" with cheeks flushed, she whispers.

Wang He Di's heart beats fast. He's a successful man, he's down to earth and knows what to do to have a bright future, but when it comes to Shen Yue, he lacks structure.

"Hearing this from you first thing in the morning makes me want to wake up next to you every day", taking advantage of the traffic light being red, he caresses her face.

A shiver runs through Shen Yue's body as Wang He Di touches her. The words fade away as their hearts beat hard expressing everything they feel for each other.

When they arrive at the hotel, Shen Yue makes sure there are no paparazzi around.

"Can I pick you up for the Disney ride?"

"I will go with Dee Shu", Shen Yue notes that Wang He Di is a little disappointed, "I'm a little insecure, Di."

Not understanding what she's trying to say, he frowns.

"I'm not sure I can take this further..."

"But we've already talked about this, Shen Yue," he answers disappointedly.

"Di, I can't ask you to wait for my contract to end, that's selfish and..."

"But I want to do this..."

"Let me finish talking, please!" Shen Yue says gently.

Wang He Di listens to what she has to say, with an intense gaze fixed on her.

"I have no right to trap you in my troubled life. I need to honor the contract I have with Dee Shu, but it's not for her or the company's sake, it's for me and my family. I'm a simple singer and I need to focus on work to gain more opportunities to be a part of big projects. You are a beautiful and rich man, I am sure you will find a compatible woman with you. A woman who isn't so complicated and who's ready to give you everything I can't right now."

He watches her closely, without interrupting her.

"I hope you understand me," Shen Yue says quietly.

"Have you finished talking?" Wang He Di asks.

Silently, Shen Yue nods.

"I only need a month. Stay with me for a month and get to know me better. Let me show you that I can be trusted and can protect you, Shen Yue."

"Di, I..." with her big teary eyes, Shen Yue can't finish her sentence.

"The only woman I want is you, Shen Yue. If the month's deadline is up and you don't trust me, I won't bother you anymore."

Shen Yue wants to throw herself into his arms, but hold back. Affectionately, Wang He Di runs his fingers through the strands of hair that are on her face, tucking them behind her ear.
