3rd POV

"Wait, let me see if I'm getting this straight," said Garrus as he and the other members of the ground team were gathered in the briefing room. The others had finished what they had been told in the meeting with the Consort back on the Citadel. "The Consort, one of the most influential Asari on the Citadel, claims that Kaine is some kind of ancient soldier that once saved their species aeons ago, fought alongside their goddess and has since been a very important and influential figure in their religious texts?"

"That's pretty much it in a nutshell," replied Kaidan. "She was very adamant about meeting him, and the way she and the other Asari were acting was strange. Like they were either afraid of him...or were worshipping him."

"What she was saying was odd as well." Tali jumped in, " Do you think she was talking about the Reapers, do you?"

Jane sighed her thoughts in a whirlwind. "I have no idea. The Council won't believe anything about the Reapers and we're still just figuring it out ourselves. But Sha'ira sounded as though she believed it completely."

The Commander looked over at Liara, who had been silent since the meeting began. "Liara," she said, gaining the young Asari's attention, "Do you want to weigh in? You seemed to know a great deal about this as well."

Liara nodded, "It is as the Consort had said. The stories and myths about him have been passed down from mother to daughter in our culture just as much as the scriptures of Athane. It was always foretold that if he would ever return, something horrible was on the horizon. Something that would cause the extinction of all, and our salvation would lie with him as it had long ago."

Ashley scoffed, "Oh come on. You can't be buying this BS."

The Asari Maiden shot the Gunnery Chief a rather harsh look, "You are a woman of religion yourself, Chief Williams. I ask that you not insult the religion of my people on the basis you find it unbelievable."

Ashley looked to be ready to snap back a retort but was cut off by Shepard. "She's right, Ash. Whether or not we believe it, it is something of importance to Liara's people. Respect it."

Ashley slumped back in her seat but glared at the blue woman across from her. She then turned to face Kaine. "YOU better speak up. No more secrets, you are a risk to the mission. C'mon Commander, back me up here."

"Ash, he doesn't have to tell us if he doesn't want to," Kaiden said, standing by my side. "You heard what the consort said. We saw what he was cable off. We can't trust him." Ashely argued.

"ash, let it go. Kaine saved us two times now. He's the reason we even got this far. He will tell us when he is ready." Shepard said before turning to Kaine. Kaine nodded before wandering out of the briefing room.

Kaine POV

I was told by Shepard to sit down for the next few missions. It was pretty boring but I did have time to converse with Tali. "So, how're the gauntlets?" Tali asked excitedly, she had just finished upgrading them and was eager to see how they worked. "not sure, I haven't really had the chance to test them out. Shepard said the last missions needed a more gentle approach." I sighed as I lay down on the medical bed.

"Kaine, this is Shepard. We need you down here. could use the extra hands. " Shepard spoke through the radio. grinning I hopped up and nodded a farewell to tail. "GOOD LUCK!" Tali called from behind, I turned with a grin and nodded before my helmet closed around my head. I jumped out of the air lock and wandered to Shepard position. I saw Garrus, wrex, Kaidan, Liara and Shepard waiting for me.
