Ch 2: An Atypical Morning

    Half the time until the UA entrance exams had passed quickly. They were now looking at only 5 months left until that day. Kazuki was up early on a morning run. Katsuki had not wanted to get up this morning, so Kazuki was running alone. He took a different route than usual just for a change of pace. He grinned as he spotted his favorite green haired boy. He ran up quickly and jumped on the smaller teen. He wrapped his arm around his neck and pulled him down to rub the knuckles of his other and on the boys head. 

    "What are you doing up so early Izu?" Kazuki teased the teen. 

    "Ahhhhhh Kaz-chan?!" Izuku Midoirya cried out as he struggled against the taller teen. Kazuki chuckled and let him go. 

    "What have you been up to?" Kazuki asked. "You never talk to me anymore." The blonde smirked as he watched Izuku get himself into order. Though the boy seemed nervous for some reason. 

    "Oh umm...I...I guess....I have just been...um...um busy," Izuku stuttered out. Kazuki tilted his head at the boys behavior. He knew when the boy was trying to hide something. 

    "You don't have to be embarrassed if you are out training for the upcoming exam Izu," Kazuki chuckled. Izuku looked up at Kazuki. "If anyone can get into the top Hero school when they are quirkless it would be you. I have no doubts." Kazuki smiled at his childhood friend. His twin, Katsuki, may treat Izuku like crap but Kazuki never did. He even went out of his way to protect Izuku from Katsuki at times. The twins had arguments about it all the time. 

    Izuku looked at Kazuki in aww for a moment before smiling lightly. Kazuki was always the best. "Thanks Kaz-chan. Yea I umm...I am out here training." He rubbed the back of his neck as he looked down again. 

    "Well if you ever want to train together, I can teach you some moves. No quirk use obviously," Kazuki grinned. Izuku nodded. 

    "Umm well I will see you later Kaz-chan. I....um...have somewhere to be." Izuku said and began walking away. 

    "Don't be such a stranger Izu. Text me sometime at least," Kazuki called after the green haired teen. He watched Izuku run towards the old dirty beach. Kazuki grew curious. He wondered how the boy could possibly be doing any training there. He jogged over and glanced down at the beach. He was surprised to see some progress in it being cleaned up. He looked around and spotted Izuku trying to push an old refrigerator towards a truck. What was more curious was the yellow haired sickly looking man yelling at Izuku. Maybe Izuku was doing a part time job for some cash or community service?  Kazuki was about to go down and see what was up when his phone began to ring.

"Better back down, you're in my domain

Got the whole crowd screaming out our name

It's a blowout, it's a hurricane

It's over before you know it

Why you shaking, we're a dynasty

In the making, we're the royalty"

    Kazuki rolled his eyes as he answered the phone. "Finally wake up bed hog?" He chuckled hearing his twin grumble on the other end. He glanced at Izuku once more before beginning to walk back towards the house. He would talk to Izuku another time about what was going on. "Oh how is it my fault you overslept?" He laughed when he heard his brother. "I tried waking you up. You growled at me like a hibernating bear. Fearing I would get my hand bit off I just left you in bed." He raised an eyebrow with a smirk on his face as he walked and listened to his brother rant on the phone. "I can go on runs on my own Suki. I am not that fragile. I don't need a baby sitter." He shook his head with a sigh. His twin was so over protective. He really needed to chill out. "Stop yelling at me or I am hanging up." Ever since eight years ago, Katsuki really hated Kazuki being out of his sight. He sighed. Back then Kazuki was shy, quiet, and couldn't stand up for himself.

    Seven year old Kazuki was sitting quietly on the swing of the school playground. His twin was inside serving yet another lunch detention for beating up other kids who picked on Kazuki. Kazuki had a lot of absences because of hospital visits or getting sick all the time. He had to wear a face mask at all times at this age to help keep him from getting sick. 

    "Look boys, its the virus boy." Another student said to his companions. Kazuki looked up and saw his worst bully. He was a grade ahead of the twins and hated that Katsuki easily gained the title of strongest kid. So being a typical bully, he picked on the weakest one which was Kazuki. "Looks like your knight in shining armor twin isn't here to protect you today." 

    Kazuki got off the swing and went towards the teacher who was supposed to be watching over the students. The boys grabbed him. "Where are you going, virus boy? We just want to play." The three boys dragged Kazuki kicking and struggling to a shed that usually housed PE equipment. Though it had not been properly cleaned out in a while. They tore off his face mask, shoved him in, and locked the door. "Have fun in there with all the spiders and germs." The bully said as he laughed and they walked away.

    Kazuki pounded on the door and cried out for help. But no one heard him as no one was close enough. Kazuki cried out until his throat hurt and his voice went hoarse. The shed was cold, dirty, and had lots of spiders and other bugs. After a while, he sat in the corner and just pulled his knees to his chest. All he could do was wait to be rescued. He was too much of a good kid at this time to even think about blasting his way out and damaging school property. He didn't know how long he was locked in there. It was cold, damp, and whenever he moved he got bit by a spider or something else. Having a very weak immune system made the venom more potent in him. He was feeling dizzy when he finally heard someone calling his name. The door was ripped open and Kazuki heard his brother's worried voice.

    Kazuki frowned thinking back to that day. He ended up in the hospital for a while after that due to all the spider bites. Katsuki got suspended after he beat the three who locked Kazuki in the shed to a pulp. The main bully got pulled from that school and the other two never spoke to Kazuki again. It was after that, Kazuki decided he would never be weak again. He couldn't let Katsuki fight all his battles and he couldn't always hide from the world due to his illness. If he was going to die at an early age, he would rather say he lived a life instead of hiding away in fear.

"KAZUKI!" He heard his name yelled from the phone. Kazuki glanced at the phone. He had zoned out for a moment thinking about the past. Granted that wasn't the only time or even the last time he was in the hospital for a while. He had many scares over the years and been close to death more times than he remembered, but he no longer wanted to dwell on them. 

"What? I tuned you out, because you wont stop acting like your mom," Kazuki teased. "Actually, wait , you're worse than mom." He chuckled hearing his twin freaking out. For the moment he forgot about what he saw Izuku doing. He kept heading home to deal with his angry hedgehog of a twin.

And that's the end of chapter 2. Hope you guys are enjoying it so far. Kazuki is a bit different from the old story, but I hope you all agree that it is for the better. Next chapter will be about the exams. 

I wrote this while at work. Im trying a different type of writing style and trying to give Kazu more personality. More depth of characters.
