I have no idea when I fell asleep, but the last thing I remember is hugging Bill Cipher himself and crying. I wake up on a ratty couch with a small television and wooden walls in my view. I slowly sit up, rubbing my eyes. Tears still threaten to push out of their ducts. I do my best to keep it cool as I stand up and stumble around until I find a window. It's still dark. The trees are only shadows and the dirt road quickly disappears.
I make my way up the stairs to the attic. I have no clue how late it is or if I'll sleep again tonight. All I know is that Bill's body is most likely thrown to the scavengers, the heavy feeling of grief won't allow me to sleep, and I need to get ready to go back to college. Imagine my surprise when I see Bill with a coloring book. I have to rub my eyes again just to make sure I'm not dreaming.
"B-Bill?" My voice is softer than usual and gritty from deep sleep, "Y-you're alive?" Bill looks up. Bags are under his eyes and his usual creepy smile is absent. I don't know if he's exhausted or what, but there's something...different about Bill.
"It'll take more than gambling with my life for Lady Death to find me," Bill says. I can't help but smile. I sit next to Bill, trying to take up as little space as possible
"Are you hiding?" I ask. I can't help myself but smile in Bill's presence. I relax my seat a little as a warm tingling tries to hide itself. I'm not sure of what this subtle feeling is, but it's a good feeling.
"Dove, my time's been long overdue!" Bill's tone is filled with pride, "That wet blanket is obsessed with laws and wouldn't dare touch the places I've been."
"Anarchy is the secret to immortality..." The thought of it is quite ridiculous, but here we are. Bill is probably older than the universe itself, and he's still kicking. I don't know how much truth is in Bill's claim, though.
We sit together in silence. The air in the attic hangs thick as I think about recent events. My school bully had me sent here because I'm a "servant of Bill," and now the very same Bill Cipher who most likely ended the lives of billions is my best friend. Is he my best friend, though? Is he just pretending? Frankly, it's hard to tell. There's one thing that is easy to tell, though: Bill needs sleep, and he's been neglecting his new body of it.
"I'll let you get sleep," I tell Bill, "It's best to rest up so you can face whatever plan the Pines have for you." I stand up and leave Bill to his own devices.
Sunlight soon seeps in through the window. Soos and Melody are already awake, wandering about as they do their morning routine of getting ready for customers.
"Hey, dude," Soos pauses his routine and waves at me, "Heard you managed to get that triangle guy to commit a good deed. That's, like, really impressive." We both fist bump as I smile. Soos goes back to his hunt for a matching pair of socks. The rest of the morning ends up being like this. Everybody keep expressing how impressive it is that Bill did something nice. I don't exactly know what Bill did, but praise during breakfast is a great mood booster.
"Guys," I put down my half-eaten toast spread with my favorite jelly/jam, "I really appreciate this hero treatment, but shouldn't Bill be celebrated, too? He did whatever it is he's done by choice."
"Kid, trust us on this one," Stan speaks with his mouth full of biscuits, "Bill is a vile being and there is no way he would've displayed any kindness without outside influence."
"Assuming Bill's act is genuine," Ford jumps in on the discussion, "Then you would both be right." Ford stands up. He grabs a pen and some napkins, starting to make quick doodles.
"From what Dipper and Mabel have told me, Bill comforted (Y/N), carried them home, and placed them on the couch," Ford explains.
"Oh, great, here we go with the nerd presentation," Stan grumbles. Ford glares at Stan before he shows a crude drawing of me crying and being held by Bill.
