Try to Kill Your Demon Best Friend

I can't walk and my arms barely function, but I have volunteered to be the one to shoot the memory gun, as Stanford's hands are non-existent. A manotaur wheels my wheelchair into battle, eager to help achieve glorious victory. My grip on the gun is as loose as it is painful, but the pain all over my body is nothing like the turmoil going on inside my head.

Shouts echo in the woods as bodies fly from Bill's attacks. The henchmaniacs stand by, the conflict within the group prevalent. I make it to Bill too soon. The Pines have Bill surrounded with their faux memory guns, making Bill going anywhere impossible with mere intimidation. I weakly point my real gun at the demon, shaking and my vision blurred with tears.

"What would you do if you have to kill your best friend?" I ask. Bill quickly turns his attention towards me. The triangle is red and inverted with rage, but the sight of me seems to...yellow him and make him smaller?

"You have one last choice," I choke out, "You stop this or you die. What will it be?" The fighting quiets down. The air becomes heavier than ever. Bill and I stare at each other. It's not the same staring that happened during Bill's time as a human. No. Bill is likely plotting to kill me on the spot and I have coldness masking a flood of tears. Bill snaps his fingers and his old human look returns, with the exception of the yellow demon cat eyes staring into my soul. Bill approaches.

"What- no- don't...don't do this to me," it takes all of my strength to cry at this point as Bill is only inches away from me.

Bill takes a minute to observe me finally dropping my gun before he finally says, "This wouldn't be the first time I tolerate being around useless flesh bags, Dove, I can handle it for an eternity."  I feel Bill lay his hand on one of mine, finally breaking me into tears. Unfortunately for Bill, Dipper has picked up my memory gun and is pointing it right at the demon.

"S-stop playing around, Cipher!" Dipper says, "You already had your second chance." Bill looks at Dipper then gives the young man a sickening grin.

"Being around you humans has ruined me," Bill tells Dipper, "My Throne of Agony is made of humanity's deepest fear, you pathetic mortals still roam the Earth, and for the first time, I've experienced REGRET! So how about you step aside and trust someone who got burned to a CRISP protecting your family, Pine Tree?"

Dipper pauses. It has been strange that nobody in the bunker lost contact with anybody in town. No...Dipper can't believe he's thinking that Bill is saying something true, but he might betray them again.

"Fine," Dipper says, "Do it. Clean your mess up. Show me that you mean it." Bill simply rolls his eyes and snaps his fingers again. The sky turns blue and everything turned weird are back to normal. All that remains are the demons and the rift. Dipper gives Bill a look.

"Stabilize the rift," Bill says in a bored tone, "and show the demons who will be living in this dimension non-human meat. I'm not forcing them to stay in a crumbling universe." Dipper sighs, and he looks at his family, only to realize that Bill has cleaned up their injuries, too. Sure, fake limbs were constructed for injuries that can't be magically healed, but now they're perfect for running at and getting into a group hug!

My tears clear up and I look at my head. A strange substance makes the structure of a hand, and it looks like it won't go away. In fact, it seems like many of my limbs have been replaced. I look up at Bill, who hasn't yet come back to being a triangle. I lean from my wheelchair and wrap my arms around Bill. The demon flinches and tenses up.

I look up at Bill's face with a grin, "I wasn't actually hurt to hear you were going to kill me."

"My good ol' friend Guilt trip," Bill says, "Sounds like you had a bad influence, kid!"

I can't help myself but chuckle at the bad joke, "And I love him for it!" Bill stops and immediately pops back into his triangular form, rendering the hug awkward to keep. Bill looks around to see an army of mythical creatures, demons, and the Pines witnessing this. Demons and mythical creatures confused alike.

"Demons are above that 'emotion' stuff, Dove," Bill pushes me back into the wheelchair and away from him, "Besides, diplomats like me are too busy to go on dates."

I laugh, "Sure, Bill Cipher, the chaos demon, would make a wonderful 'diplomat.'" Bill scowls at me before he turns back to Ford. At least it's nice to see Bill trying to do some good without me. I sigh.

I place a photo on the wall in my bedroom. The Pines Family and Bill in his triangular shape are uncomfortable, but at least they're not trying to kill each other. I can't help myself but smile. The weirdness bubble in Gravity Falls has been popped, and many of the new students in my college are much more mystical than many students are comfortable with, but the few who are...well, they're my people now.

I walk out of my room and sit down on the couch. Shorty is trying to finish his Riddle History homework from Professor Kelink's class as Johnathon sorts out our mail. My pile is the biggest, with most of them being love letters (mixed with a little "please come back!") from Bill, and some are from my pen pal 8-ball. Johnathon dares not to ask anything.

The quiet moment is disturbed when there's a knock on the door to the BPM of "We'll Meet Again." I get up.

"I'll get it!" I hurry to the door and open it, as I know only one person who runs my monthly Vera Lynn record subscription. Well, only one demon. I swing open the door to see a floating triangle with a Vera Lynn record in his little hands. I immediately hug the geometric shape.

"How is the diplomacy going?" I giggle.

"I have convinced humans that laws are there to ruin their fun and an Anarchist event is coming up!" Bill says excitedly, "And I broke a murderer out of prison!"

"Bill!" I say, "You can't just break murderers out of prisons!"

"You're no fun," Bill slips out from the hug and hovers into the dorm. Johnathon looks at Bill in existential fear and Shorty just gives a "hi, (Y/N)'s boyfriend" while keeping his eyes glued to a riddle textbook.

"It's not official," I tell Shorty, "Bill is taking his time warming up to the idea."

"Hi, (Y/N)'s unofficial boyfriend," Shorty retorts.

"And maybe that can change today," Bill states, "You still owe me a second date, Dove, and there's a showing of The Human Centipede in town tonight. If you take me to that showing, you can ask the question you've been waiting to ask for months now. Now...do we have a deal?"

I smile, "Deal!" Neither of us could shake on it. No, there's no need to, as I can tell that Bill is trying to mask his excitement from these humans and spare himself the humiliation of being a demon...feeling LOVE! I don't get why, out of all things, he cares about appearing aromantic, and not anything else, but hey, Bill's an enigma. That is only one of the many reasons why I date a demon.
