The world seemed to be quiet. The lights were dimmed and the atmosphere was peaceful. Books could be read by many but there is television. People could bike but why would you when there are cars.
People could love others but why would you if you could refrain from heartbreak?
One of the biggest arguments out there in the world is do you believe in love?
Now many would say yes and others would say no thinking they're fine with friends and family. But to the people who believe in love, it's much grander than what you have with friends and family. It's a connection that when you part from them, you feel yourself shattering.
Now friends and lovers may go. That's a main key with love, how easily it is for someone to disappear out of someone's life.
For Ember it made her feel much worse that she was the one to wake up and realize she had left Mattheo.
The sound of beeping awoke her first, the lights were blinding until she heard voices and the lights calmed down. The first thing to catch her eye was the window, the buildings and the light smog that filled the air brought back the nostalgia.
The second thing she noticed was the aching pain in her shoulder and the major pain pounding on the sides of her head.
"Hey Ember." Elijah pushes the hair laying across her face behind her ear.
Arabella strolls up beside him and takes her daughters hand into hers. "You gave us quite a scare."
"Wha-" she's interrupted as the doctor comes in. He picks up the clipboard and smiles brightly at Ember.
"Last night you gave your parents quite a scare." He writes some things down "they found you this morning with a fractured shoulder and a concussion."
"I- what?" She asks and sits up with the help of her Dad. She thought that she would at least be poisoned, it's just fractured?
"You're free to go home today, we just wanted to make sure you woke up fine with the concussion." He puts the clipboard under his armpit "I hope you guys have a nice day."
"Thank you, doctor." Elijah says giving him a handshake and then picking up the bag off of the chair.
While Embers in the washroom changing Arabella stands outside the door waiting just in case Ember needs help, but she doesn't.
Ember washes her face and looks up at herself in the mirror. She feels odd and the fact no one is bringing up what just happened over the last few months concerns her.
She turns and walks out of the door playing with the strap of the sling that holds up her arm. Elijah smiles and grabs the bag to sling over his shoulder. "Where's your necklace kid?" He asks with furrowed eyebrows.
Ember looks up at him confused, so very confused "oh." She says and touches her collar bone with her free hand "I must have misplaced it by accident....."
Elijah sighs and lightly pushes the small of her back towards the door. As they get outside, a car pulls up and Blake jogs around the car to give Ember a hug. He's careful with her arm and backs up smiling to open Embers door.
"Glad your okay sis." He smirks and she thanks him while he closes the door.
On the car ride home she's lost in thought, confused and concerned that everything just happened was her truly shifting. Was she the only one that remembered?
She looks at the window as people pass and different sized buildings lead them home. Their house looks the exact same only now it seems slightly dark and sad.
