After school I went to some classroom where there was another student. I recognised his black hair. “Kyle?” I questioned. He turned around and gave me a childish smile. “Shelby, why are you here?” He questioned. “I hit Logan, he told on me. I mean seriously, are we twelve again?” I explained. He just laughed. “And how about you?” I asked. “Oh you know, got into a fight with this guy.” He joked, I hoped. “Oh yeah, did you win?” I giggled. “Oh yeah, one hit to head and he was down.” He laughed with me. “But no, I didn’t do my homework so I have a week’s detention.” He exclaimed. I just laughed. “At least I have someone.” I smiled. He smiled back. “Alright students.” The teacher instructed. I looked up and great. My Uncle. “Shelby, what are you doing?” He questioned, than looked at a sheet of paper. “You hit someone? Does your mother know?” He boomed. “Shut up okay. Yes she knows, my friend is helping with Juliet and Carter, everything is fine.” I explained. Kyle looked with confusion. ‘Father?’ He mouthed. ‘Uncle.’ I mouthed back. He just laughed and I rolled my eyes. “Aright, Shelby and Kyle. Take these and clean every bathroom wall.” Uncle Harry instructed. “Every bathroom?” I questioned. “Every bathroom.” He repeated. I rolled my eyes before grabbing a spray bottle and cloth. I walked out of the room Kyle following. “Your uncle seems nice.” He tried enlightening the mood. “He was, until his best friend passed away.” I replied whipping a tear away as I thought of the moment. “God damn it.” I screamed whipping even more tears. “I’m sorry, I didn’t realise.” Kyle apologised hugging me. “His best friend, was he close to you?” Kyle asked. “My father.” I cried a little more. Every time I think about him, or mention him I ball my eyes out and I’m over it. I don’t like it, I know I miss him, I miss Romeo and Rose as well, but I’m over feeling like this. “It’s okay; it gets better, trust me.” He helped. I looked up at him. “My mother…” He replied. “Oh…” I couldn’t think any longer. “I-“I started. “You didn’t know.” He finished for me. I smiled. We scurried off towards the first bathroom. Cleaning, hooray!

Kyle and I spent an hour cleaning up every bathroom in the school, which was really disgusting, it is unexplainable. After we were finished I waved goodbye whilst looking into his shimmering blue eyes before walking off. “Would you like a lift home?” Uncle Harry questioned. “Actually, yes please.” I accepted his offer because it was cold outside, and Skylar already left so I couldn’t walk home with her. I jumped into the front seat of his car and plugged my seatbelt in. He started his car before we were driving. “How’s your mother?” He asked during an awkward silence. “She is good, getting better.” I replied, thinking real hard. She is getting better, things are finally looking up. Uncle Harry just nodded before turning the radio on. Little White Lies was playing softly playing on the radio. “May I?” I questioned gesturing towards the radio. “Go ahead.” He smiled. I turned it before singing along. “If this room was burning, I wouldn’t even notice, cause you’ve been taking up my mind, with your little white lies, little white lies!” I sang so loud. “You say it's getting late, it's getting late, and you don't know if you can stay, if you can stay, but you, you don't tell the truth, no, you, you like playing games.”My uncle continued singing. I started laughing. “What?” He interrogated. “You know this song?” I laughed. “Uh hell yes, One Direction is my jam!” He answered. “Oh god.” I laughed even more. We kept singing along laughing so much. I didn’t realise my uncle was good at singing. I haven’t laughed this much with anyone, especially family, especially my uncle. My father was his best friend. That’s how my dad met my mum. Uncle Harry is my mum’s brother. Uncle Harry and dad met in year 8 and were best friends ever since. So when dad passed away, Uncle Harry was so distraught, worse than my mother, but somehow he got better, unlike mum.

We finally arrived home. “Thank you.” I smiled before closing the door. “Hey Shelb.” He shouted over the radio. I turned around as he lowered the volume. “Yeah?” I reply. “If you ever need help, call me. I will always be here for you and my sister.” He told me. “I know.” I smiled again before walking inside. “SHELBY’S HOME!” I heard screaming as I walked into my house. “Yeah she is.” I heard an unfamiliar voice and what sounded like laughing. That laugh, I recognise it. “Ugh come here.” I said as I lifted Carter up. “Hey baby.” I kissed his forehead and I walked towards the noises.
