19 : Compensation

~ Lucas ~

It was almost 9 in the morning when I came to see Rose after finishing my morning workout and here she is still sleeping so peacefully.

The entire night she was curled up in my arms like a small kitten.

I opened the curtains to let sunlight in and stood beside the bed. It was honestly one of my most peaceful sleep that I had in a long long time.

I gently put the loose curls of hair out of her face and she shuffled a little. Slowly she opened her eyes and just started at the ceiling and then her eyes landed on me.

She almost instantly sat up and vigorously looked around her. "Where am I? What happened yesterday?"

"You are in my house and did you really forget what happened yesterday?" I asked with a little smirk playing on my lips.

She immediately looked at the clothes she was wearing and sighted in relief.

"Wait the last thing I remember was dancing then-" she clutched her head and was trying hard to recollect last night.

I handed her a glass of water " I think you should take a warm shower that will ease your headache." Then I left her to figure out her thoughts and went in my room.

After taking a shower I came downstairs for breakfast. I sat at the dining table and Daisy (the housekeeper) placed my breakfast.

When I was midway eating I saw Rose come downstairs. She was wearing a bathing robe and she looked deep in thoughts.

She stood near me and was about to say something but I cut her off " you should have breakfast first." She obliged and sat down.

We ate in silence but then I noticed her staring at my hands.
"What are you staring at?"

"You are hurt." She took my hand in her and touched the nail marks on my wrist.

"Did I do this?" She looked guilty.

" Who else." I pulled my hand back and continued eating my breakfast.

"I-i am sorry."

"You don't need to apologise, you wer drunk." After that I completed my food and went in my office.

I was reading a file when a knock interrupted me. "Come in." It was Rose she was carrying her purse with her though she was still in that robe.

She came near me and said " I know I was drunk but still what I did was wrong and I need to be responsible and make it right." I don't know what she's up to but I played along.
"And how are you going to do that?"

She took out some ointment from her purse and gently started applying it on my wrist. Though it wasn't much of a physical contact but the way her soft little hands wer massaging my hand was very soothing.

"Thank you." She suddenly spoke up. "For helping me even though I was annoying and as you are my boss, you can ask me anything I'll make sure to get it done for you as I should compensate." She rambled in nervousness.

"Hmm...right after all this compensation is just the half of what you did."
"Now what about the other half." She almost froze after listening that.

"The other half?" She said with wide eyes.

~Rosella~

Lucas stood up from his chair and instantly towere over me as he is so tall. I moved a step backwards in nervousness. The events of last night kept flashing in my head and it made it even harded to stand in front of him.

" Ms. Stone I know that you remember everything that happened between us last night and  don't you think that needs a compensation?" He brought his face closer to mine.

"S-so what do you want me to do?" I asked in a low voice.

"I took care of you yesterday so you will do the same, you'll be my caretaker for the next 10 days starting tomorrow." He said and  pulled his face back.

I was dumbfounded and just stood there trying to process what he said. 

"Now as a caretaker you'll have to make meals for me, tidy up my room, office and come to me immediately whenever I call you." I was speechless

"So tell me are you willing to do this ?" He sat back on his chair.

"Yes."I was unsure of my answer but I still said yes. Oh god what am I getting my self into.

~The Next Day~

It was 7:30 in the morning and I rushed out the house to my car. My office time is at 9 and I'll have to make breakfast for Lucas before that.

I reached his house and almost immediately got to work. Daisy helped me locate all the things kept in the kitchen and I started making breakfast. Daisy told me that Lucas eats his breakfast sharp at 8:15 so I hurried.

I asked Daisy to hand me the spatula so that I could flip the pancake. She didn't say anything and just kept it on the counter beside me but something cought my eyes. Those hands were of a Man.

"It smells good in here." A familiar voice said close to my ear. I was startled and I turned behind to see Lucas standing there. He hair was messy and wet and his body was glistening with sweat.

"I thought it was Daisy." I tried not to be affected by his presence and continued my work.

"She is watering the plants, you can ask me if you need help." It's coz of him that I have to do this so I'm better off without his precious help.

"The breakfast will be ready in five minutes so you can take a seat."

After I was done with plating I placed the food on the dining table. Lucas closely examined the food for a good minute and then picked up his fork and took his first bite.

"Hmm not bad you do have some good cooking skills. " After listening that I released a breath I didn't know I was holding.

"I'll go tidy up your room." I was about to go upstairs but he called me.

"Did you had your breakfast? " He asked.
"No I didn't."
"Then come here and eat first. " He said pointing with his fork at the seat across him.

"But I made that breakfast for you. "
" It is enough for two people, so listen to your boss and come here. " I did not say anything further and just did what he said as I was actually hungry.

~ time skip ~

I came in my office after having my lunch. I had to go buy luch for Lucas too as we are in office he allowed me buy him luch rather than making it so I can say it was pretty easy going today.
I also finished all my work and now I'm looking at different recipes to cook dinner for Lucas.

A knock on the door interrupted me. "Come in" I said and it was Andrew.

"Hey."
"Hey, have you been busy lately. " He asked taking a seat in front of me.
"You can say that coz last week was hectic but luckily today I finished early." I said in a proud voice"What about you, I haven't seen you around lately. "

"You can say it was hectic but maybe not as much as being the assistant of Mr. Jones. " He chuckled.
We talked about some random things and something that I noticed is now I don't get those butterflies in my stomach that I used to get when I talked with him.

"Well I wanted to ask you something. "
"Go on. " I sad looking up my phone screen as he sounded serious.

"Tomorrow's my birthday and would you go out on dinner with me?" If he'd asked me this question a few months ago I would have felt excited but strangely I don't feeling anything maybe I don't have a crush on him anymore.

"But aren't your family and friends coming?"
"Actually I don't have much friends here and my family lives in Canada so it's just you who I could celebrate with."

"That's sad but I'll surely go with you." Though I've said yes to Andrew but the person in my thoughts right now is Lucas how am I gonna manage to make dinner for him and also go with Andrew.
