Jungwon laid there, trying to focus on Jake's breathing. It was soothing, but still not enough to help him fall asleep.

After a while, he had managed to match his own breathing on Jake's and his body finally relaxed. Jungwon was almost asleep when he heard a muffled noise outside of his room.

It's probably nothing. Turn around and close your eyes again.

The sound was louder the second time. As if something heavy had fallen down.

Jungwon got up, still unsure if he wanted to check it out. By the time he heard the noise for the third time, he was already at the door. He opened it and got out.

The hallway was dark and silent. Jungwon felt the coldness of the wooden floor under his feet send a shiver up his spine. He couldn't hear the noise anymore. When he was about to give up and go back to bed, it happened again.

It came from Jay's bedroom.

Jungwon hesitated a bit more, but ultimately decided to let it go. Jay probably had let something fall on the floor.  Or maybe he was moving his furniture around in his room. In either way, Jungwon didn't want to knock on his door this late at night. Jay had made it clear he wanted to be alone.

Jungwon finally reached his bed and let himself dive in it. He fell asleep fast this time.

Jungwon woke up to the bedroom door closing. He opened an eye to check, and as he had guessed, Jake was already up and had left the room.

He turned around, allowing himself to sleep more. It was Saturday after all.

He opened his eyes again almost two hours later, after having the weirdest dream ever.

So I was at school, wait, or was it the ...
Damn it, I always forget my dreams...

He sat up, trying to gather what was left of his dream, but he could only picture Jay's eyes.

At least I remember something about the dream.

Jungwon arrived in the kitchen, in which Jake and Heeseung were talking.

"Hey there" greeted Jungwon.
"Slept well?" asked Jake.
"I had trouble falling asleep to be honest" replied Jungwon.
"Really?" asked Heeseung.
"Yeah, I was almost asleep when I heard strange noises" explained Jungwon.

Heeseung's jaw clenched slightly at the mention of the noises.

"I didn't hear anything" added Heeseung, looking at his cereals.
"Me neither" replied Jake, unaware of Heeseung's awkwardness.
"I think it came from Jay's bedroom" said Jungwon, grabbing a cereal bowl for himself.
"Ah, yes, Jay is pretty clumsy, always dropping things" replied Heeseung, laughing.

Jungwon looked at him attentively.
His laugh sounds nervous.
Why is he nervous?

Jungwon sat at the table and began eating his cereals. Jake decided it was the best moment to drop a lecture on all the different types of dogs he wanted to adopt.

"I'm telling you, Sunghoon won't allow you to bring a dog here" replied Heeseung automatically.
"But I have already so many good names lined up, like" started Jake.
"Really?" asked Heeseung.
"Please?" replied Jake in a sweet voice.

Jungwon looked up from his cereals to witness the scene. Jake was making puppy eyes at Heeseung, who clearly was trying hard to contain himself.

"Okay, tell me the names" finally gave in Heeseung.

Why does it feel like I'm Heeseung and Jake's third wheel?

"Okay, so I want to avoid the famous Rex, or Max or names like that. I like Flint, Mocha, Layla" started Jake, counting on his fingers.

"Is he talking about dogs again?" asked Sunghoon, as he entered the kitchen.
"No, I wasn't" replied Jake instantly, making Heeseung laugh.

"Slept well?" asked Jungwon, curious to know if the noises had disturbed him as well, after all, his bedroom was upstairs too.

"Yes, like a rock actually" replied Sunghoon, making himself a coffee.
"Oh Rocky could be a good name too" whispered Jake.

For the rest of the day, Jake and Jungwon visited cool places in Seoul. Jake showed his new roommate where the university was, the parc in which he liked to take walks, his favorite restaurants, the mall in which the boys usually went together and so on.

They were now eating ice cream, walking back home.

"So you all hang out quite a lot right?" asked Jungwon.
"I guess we do" replied Jake. "We're a good team! Which is surprising actually. Almost all of my friends who live with roommates have problems. It can be miscommunication, dirty people, whatever, there's always problems. But I guess we function well in our house."
"Everyone always gets on well with everyone?" asked Jungwon, sincerely curious. "Cause I've known Niki for a long time, and even though he's sweet, he's also a prankster, and it can bother some people easily."
"I guess it can be, but we always talk about it and Niki's pranks are cute, so it's not an issue" explained Jake.

Jungwon stopped walking.

"Cute?" he asked. "We clearly don't know the same Niki."

They laughed together.

"What about Jay?" finally asked Jungwon, dying to know more about this mysterious boy.
"What about him?" asked back Jake, tilting his head.
"He seems to have a different vibe from the rest of you" said Jungwon, trying hard not to recite the mental list of every detail he had noticed about Jay.
"You mean because of yesterday night?" replied Jake. "Well, it's true he never stays up late with us, but he always participates during the evening, and he sometimes cooks for us. I guess he's just more shy and that he needs more sleep than we do. He's really sweet once you get to know him."

Sweet? That wouldn't be the adjective I'd use, but okay. Most gorgeous person I've ever met could fit him better.

They were only a turn away from home, and Jake had already finished his ice cream. They walked around the corner and there stood their house. Jungwon took the time to admire his new home. He liked the entrance door a lot, and he could almost see the library and the seats just over it.

That's when he noticed it. Someone was watching him from a window on the left. By the time Jungwon blinked to look at that person better, the window was empty.

Isn't that Jay's bedroom window?
