We woke up still cuddled together to the sound of banging on Moriko's cabin's door.
"Rise and shine lovebirds! It is almost dawn! Gina wants us moving out soon!" Gaspar yelled from the other side.
I kissed Moriko on the back of her neck. She turned around to kiss my mouth.
"Okay, I'm going to take that as you two are awake!" Gaspar made loud kissing noises.
I rolled my eyes at him and continued to enjoy my moment with Moriko.
"Welcome to the Pack Moriko!" Gaspar said as he walked away.
Staring at each other, I was mesmerized by how beautiful Moriko looked. I was definitely in love with Moriko and the feeling is mutual. Don't get me wrong, I love everyone in my pack equally. But Ines, Moriko, and now Firestarter, will always have an extra place in my heart.
Moriko caressed her belly. I could sense that she was questioning us giving in to our love and lust for each other. "Was it right to do this? Especially now? Won't this interfere with the mission?"
Then I felt her apprehension and unease; the same feeling that Ines and War had, as well as Gina and Louis. My hands joined hers on her stomach. I pressed firmly to feel the bundles of cells slowly growing into embryos.
"Yes Moriko, the time was right. And no, we won't be interfering with the mission." I kissed her. "Even though we can't age, we can still die. I want us to leave something behind, just in case. I want ALL of our children to inherit the Earth. Especially if our gift of immortality is taken from us."
Like most members of the Knights, those selected and chosen few are gifted immortality. Moriko was given immortality about 140 years ago. I was given it about 8 years ago. Something easily given, can get easily taken away.
Moriko nodded in understanding. "You are right. I got used to being alive, and busy, for such a long time. For decades I dreamed what it would be like to finally be a mother." She looked me deeply in the eyes. "Now, I will have that chance, thanks to you." She kissed me back, our hands still by her belly.
Because of my curiosity about such things, I had to ask her. "So, how long will the pregnancy be for?"
"Depends on how many babies." Moriko answered and explained, "When two kitsune mate, there could be anywhere from 2 to 4 babies, sometimes more. If a kitsune mates with a human, there could be 1 or 2 babies. Other species like werewolves, vampires, or other supernatural and mythology beings... I don't know. It would most likely vary though. Ultimately, on average it is anywhere from 5 to 6 months."
"Would you like to know how many babies we are having?"
"What!?! You know already?" Moriko was shocked.
I smiled. "I can feel them inside of you!" I pressed firmly on her stomach. Yep, definitely still three. "We are having triplets!"
"Three babies!!!" Moriko sat up fast. "No, that's not right! You are not kitsune! You can't give me three babies." She shook her head.
I sat up next to her. "Nothing has been right since the conflicts. Nothing has been right since this apocalypse started." I wrapped my arms around her
"Sorry for my reaction Abe-San." Moriko nuzzled her face into my neck.
"I didn't mean it like that, Moriko-chan." I rested my chin on her head. "I meant it like a lot of the old rules don't matter and exist anymore. A lot has changed. Almost like reality has changed." I breathed her in, feeling everything she had and sharing my own emotions with her. "Maybe it was help from my magic, or a blessing from God, but whatever the case may be, I am glad that we were able to do this."
