You tell yourself,
It won't talk long.
It'll be real quick.
You'll be done in a zip.
You remind yourself,
Only a couple more years.
One more assignment I won't have to do.
It'll be easy.
You yell at yourself,
Stop being lazy.
Are you crazy?
This sh*t has a deadline!
You laugh at yourself,
A quick break.
Just three seconds and I'll do it.
Just let me destress, it'll get done.
You force yourself,
Get it done!
You're sick with a cold.
You're depressed, Get it done!
You stare at it for hours.
You want it to go away,
It Won't.
You frown at it.
You're tired of working on it.
But you have to.
You warn yourself on your birthday,
Take no new obligations if it requires work.
You do anyway.
That's why you're still at work.
Everyone else is on vacation.
