“Swirlwindin’”

The waves crash against each other

Like Spartans and Persians fighting until death

Fireballs of water catapult the land

Leaving meteoric pits in the ground

Lava tears rain down in a barrage

Melting everything it touches like acid

The sound of the wind is the sound of a thousand machine guns

Shooting every target to immolation

The sand suctions everything on it

Like quicksand, but much faster

Whirlwind, Swirl, Spin

A girl sits on a roof with closed eyes so she won’t see the violent waves

She’s thinking

A woman is staring distraught at the girl, dodging lava tears and water fireballs

Thinking

A boy being suctioned by the sand is watching the woman

Wondering why

A man was being pummeled to death by the wind

And was imagining

A scientist fell into a pit

Spin, Swirl

Whirlwind
