Ode to Love
Love, you're like that needed handful of cotton to fluff my pillow
Something smooth soft to lay my head on
as I watch that sad, creaky ol' willow
and laugh as I hadn't known it wasn't already gone.
Love, you're that cut on my leg that hurt like hell
and bled like death
but now that you're healed, well
you're healed so well that it takes away my breath.
Love, you're that sunny day in June
having rested on a nice beach and had fun.
You faded away so soon
having dragged me for a crazily wild run.
Love, you're the siren song in my ears
The twisting, turning, symphonious song said.
You eased away my foaming fears
And, somehow, left me wrecked in your sea, instead.
Love, you're in my head, that dangerous thought
that makes me smile real devilish
and if I could I'd kill you with a gun shot
but you're stuck in my head, some sick fetish.
