Don't Blame the Coward
The blame is not all mine.
The blame is not all mine!
"And I refuse to accept myself as the cause of this grievous crime
The blame is not all mine..."
The blame is not all mine,
"And I swear with my right hand to the justice of law
I did not commit that crime"
I could lie and say I'm guilty but,
You are never guilty until they think you're innocent and
if they think you're guilty then you probably are.
"But I will not lie, I've not a touch to do with that crime and
for when is a bystander guilty by sight?"
The blame is not all mine and this is what I need to prove right.
I saw the sleight of hand and angry cries, roaring grumbles and narrowed to slit eyes
And that, how I despise,
but the blame is NOT all mine!
"I will defend myself as I do
because what is true to me will never be to you
and all that I've seen
could just be illusory sight triggered from terrified fright
But- how am I right?
The blame is not all mine.
I've been saying, at all time, that I am only witness to the crime
And the truth as paid a dozen a dime
I conclude, the blame is not all mine"
For what do they want the coward of a man I am to do,
Be apart of the crime because it's more seemly than true.
