Hey guys! Sorry for the delay, the majority of this chapter is in devons POV which I find harder to write, so yeah. I had also planned to work on this last night but I forgot it was the superbowl soo... Yeah.
I am also doing a little bit of editing; "Marly" from chapter 24 is now "Bree". And Devon now goes to MCPHS, cause turns out UNH is like an hour away haha... :3
Chapter 29
I flopped down face first onto the soft brown sofa. To say I had a bad day at school would be an understatement to say the least.
I mean, usually this couch solved all my problems. It was so fluffy and soft...
Thing is, it just wasn't doing it for me anymore.
I had someone in my mind who I knew could definitely make me feel better. I blushed just thinking about him.
Maybe I should give him space after what happened. I mean, that was an intense day if I do say so myself. He had texted me this morning though and seemed fine, so I decided to call him anyways.
"Hi." He picked up on the second ring, sounding bored.
"Hey." I smiled happily, glad I got to talk to him.
Oh man. I've got it bad.
"Oh hey, thank god it's you. My ex girlfriend has been calling me all day." I could picture the grimace he would be wearing right now. Well, I don't blame him. I had lots of experience with creepy exes.
"I feel your pain." I laughed.
"Yeah, so what's up?"
"Oh nothing... I'm just kind of bored." Oh god, that's embarrassing, I could've at least made up a reason for calling him instead of sounding like a loner.
"Or maybe you just like the sound of my voice." He teased.
Hah. If only he knew how spot on he was.
"Ah, mm, yeah..." I trailed off.
Was he trying to flirt with me? I hope so.
But then again, if he was, I just blew it.
"Hey, you okay?" He asked softly. I honestly couldn't find a guy better than him, even if he only wanted to be friends. Slowly, one single tear trickled down my cheek.
"No." My voiced trembled quietly.
"Hey, shh, you're okay." He said nervously. I sniffed. Don't want to scare him away by crying.
Well I suppose it's kind of too late for that. Seems like I cry my eyes out all over him every other day.
"Yeah, no, I'm fine." I said, trying my best to keep my voice even. "Look, sorry, I don't know why I called you, I guess I'll go now, um," I rambled.
"Hey, it's fine." He said. "Um, do you, uh, want to come over?" He asked hesitantly.
"Devon, you don't have to-" My voice broke as another tear slid down my face.
"It's fine, I'll be there in ten minutes, okay?" He asked. Before I could answer with a protest, he had already hung up, probably because he knew what was coming.
Stupid boy.
I still couldn't bring myself to be mad at him. He was just too.. Too sweet, too funny, too hot.... He was too perfect. No one was that perfect.
I'll bet he snores.
Just as I was musing over that thought, my mom walked in.
"Kayla? Are you okay?" She asked, staring at me with her brown eyes.
