Frank turned and headed for the door leaving Gerard stood dumbstruck and speechless.

He managed to not turn back – knowing if he did, he would just rush back in and throw his arms around Gee. Lindsey stood in her doorway grinning and holding out the book for Frank as he passed.

"I fucking hate you" he told her as he snatched the book from her hands.

She just shrugged and watched him walk away. She then made her way towards Gerard's room to offer some comfort. Bitch!

Frank's fists were tightly clenched as he headed through the school corridors and towards the exit doors. It took everything he had in him not to break down and cry.

He made it to his car and drove home silently. As he approached his front door, the pain was becoming unbearable and as he entered and closed the door behind him, he finally allowed himself to release it. He gasped as he slumped to the floor. He wept and sobbed as the pain tore through him like an avalanche. He couldn't believe he had done it. Thrown away the best thing to have ever happened to him. Left Gerard standing there hurt and confused. He would surely hate him for that. How could he not?

---------------------

Gerard hadn't really registered what Frank had said to him at first, but as he uttered the words "It's over", he felt like the bottom had fallen out of his world. He watched Frank turn and walk away, and as much as he wanted to run after him, he found himself stuck to the floor, unable to move. It was only after he was long gone that Gerard fully understood what was happening.

Lindsey had appeared then, offering words of comfort. He hadn't even realised that she had known about him and Frank, so he was also confused by that. He wasn't really listening and found himself quietly gathering his things together and just walking past her as he left his room. He politely said goodbye to a couple of colleagues and headed to his car. He tossed his bag on the passenger seat and fastened his seatbelt.

Then, like a man possessed, he let out a blood curdling cry and slammed his fists over and over again into the steering wheel. Tears sprang from his eyes, and he couldn't catch his breath. He wailed and cried and didn't care if anyone saw. He eventually started the engine and roared out of the school gates, barely able to see for the tears streaming down his face. He drove on autopilot; his mind going over the whole thing again. What had he missed? What had he done to make Frank fall out of love with him? He just couldn't fucking comprehend what the hell was going on.

Once home, he fished his phone out and called Frank. Deep down he knew he wouldn't answer, but he left heart wrenching voice messages in the hope that he would call him back. After a few hours, he gave up and climbed into bed, eventually crying himself to sleep.

Frank had remained on the floor in the cold, dark room; the only light coming from his phone that rang and rang. He had to force himself not to answer, although he wanted nothing more. He didn't torture himself any further either by listening to Gerard's messages; just instantly deleted them. He knew he couldn't cope listening to Gee crying. There was no way he could deal with that. He switched his phone off and finally made his way to bed.

The following day, Frank found himself throwing items of clothing into a bag and heading to his mom's house. He had called her earlier and asked if he could stay for a while. He told her about his breakup, and she didn't hesitate to offer his old room back for as long as he wanted it. He knew Gerard would come by his place demanding answers, and he just couldn't face that.

His mom was stood on the doorstep as he arrived and he all but ran to her. She threw her arms around him and hugged him close. He felt like a child again, the only comfort that could possibly help ease this pain a little was from his mother. And she didn't disappoint. She shushed him and stroked his hair as he cried into her.

Gerard woke the following day and called the school to say he wouldn't be in. He told them he had been up all night with food poisoning. He sounded dreadful so there was no possibility of them not believing him. He crawled back to bed and cried some more, before trying to call Frank again. No answer!

His phone did buzz a little while later and he clambered to reach it, only to find a text from Lindsey. She asked how he was and told him that Frank had handed his notice in at work. That set off a fresh batch of tears for Gerard. Not only was his boyfriend no longer his boyfriend, but he wouldn't see him at work either. He was beyond worried. What the hell was going on with Frank?

----------------------------

It had been two weeks since Frank had been home. He stood now saying farewell to his mom with a pretend smile on his face for her benefit. She was sending him home with all kinds of meals to freeze, not happy that he hadn't been eating properly. She told him she would come around next week to check on him before giving him a bone crushing hug and saying goodbye.

He waved and smiled as he drove away, only allowing his tears to slide down his face once his mother was out of sight. He didn't feel any better than he had the day he'd arrived, but it had been nice having someone look after him. He was usually the one to take care of others, but he had needed someone this time, and his mom had been there will all her love and comfort. He didn't want to leave, but knew he had to move on and try and get some normality back into his life. He had a new fucking job to find for starters.

Gerard had gone back to work after a week off. He knew he had taken the piss having a full week off for food poisoning, but he didn't really give a shit.

He missed Frank. Like he could never have imagined. Frank had become his world and now his world was empty. Void of any happiness.

He would walk by Frank's room and sadly look in. Even the kids looked bored and were all upset at Mr Iero's departure. He had left a dent in everyone's life. Especially Gerard's.

He tried his hardest to be his best for his students, but he knew he wasn't really cutting it. Just leaving them to it most of the time and not giving anything extra as he would have done before.

Lindsey had tried to become friendly again, but honestly, he couldn't be fucking arsed with her. She was just noise most of the time and she was really beginning to piss him off, telling him he was better off without Frank; saying he wasn't the person everyone thought he was. Honestly, she was as confusing as fuck. They had practically been best friends when Gerard had arrived at this school, and now she didn't have a good word to say about him. He didn't trust her and did his best to avoid her wherever possible.

His days comprised of teaching and then going home to call his brother for a good old cry, and then sobbing himself to sleep whilst looking at the photographs of him and Frank together on his phone. He just couldn't seem to even begin to get over him. He just wanted him back. He didn't want to feel like this anymore. He was truly broken.

Frank had dumped his bags on the floor in the corner of his lounge and was now sat on his couch drinking beer after beer. He hadn't bothered to switch on the lights, just sat drinking and crying in the dark. He was well and truly drunk when he heard a loud knocking at his door.

He stood and stumbled towards it, swinging it open angrily.

He took in the furious face stood before him and tried to shut the door in it.

He didn't manage it though and he now cursed himself for even going to open it.

"What the fuck is going on with you?" the voice shouted. "I think my brother deserves some fucking explanation, don't you?"

Come on in Mikey fucking Way!
