Amielya
Shit! Shit! SHIT! I growled. My breathing started quicken as I paced the forest floor. What have I done? What would he do when he wakes up? Worse of all what would he think of me? I growled again, trying to keep calm, but not being able to stop my pacing, or the slight tremor of my hands. Completely absorbed in my own problems and worries I didn’t hear anyone approach, until they burst through the clearing.
Shocked, I ran. I ran faster than I ever had before. I never ran from a fight, but this wasn’t my territory and those wolves are not my pack. Hearing a wolf in the distance trying to keep up with me, I quickly shifted into my midnight black wolf and pressed on toward the packs border.
I needed to get out of here…even if just for a little.

Avery
“Ah man my head hurts…what happened?” Jace asked rubbing his head as he tried to get up. Placing a gentle hand on his shoulder I push him down.
“It would be best if you not try and get up quite yet.” I whispered looking down at him.
“And you are-?” He asked looking dazed, his hazel brown eyes unfocused, his soft pink lips frowning ever so slightly. Shaking my head I look away. I mean this is Ev’s brother!
“Avery, gamma of the silverwood pack.” I answered as I saw his eyes start to focus.
“Right…” he trailed off.
“Do you remember what happened?” I asked him, hoping he didn’t…for his sake.
“I- I remember running after Amielya, but when I came to the clearing I was attacked.” He answered rubbing his head, as he sat up and leaned against a tree nearby, his muscles straining against his tight black shirt. I growled at myself…I really need to get a boyfriend.
“Attacked by what?” Please don’t say black wolf. Please don’t say black wolf. Closing his eyes he thought back.
“A wolf…not one I recognized. It looked like dark brown.” He answered after a few minutes. I let out a quick breath I didn’t even realize I was holding. Suddenly he bolted up and ran in the direction of the pack house. I sighed, following close behind.
Where the hell are you Ev?! I whispered to her wolf, hoping she didn’t block me out.

Cynthia
“Damn it!” I hissed to myself. Ev just had to shift didn’t she? I pushed myself harder, trying to catch up with her before she made it to the border.
After what felt like hours I slowed to a stop, my blood pounding in my head, heart beating erratically, my breath coming in short pants. I was just about ready to turn back and give up when I heard crying.
She can’t be…it just can’t be… Taking off at a run once more, I burst through a clearing, and to a scene I have only ever seen once before. Ev was sitting on the forest floor, head in hands, sobs shaking her shoulders. She didn’t even acknowledge my presents, as I made my way over to her.
Sighing I plopped down in front of her, causing her to look up. I gave her a small smile and took her hand in mine for comfort, as I sent her calming images through our pack link.
“You want to talk about it?” I asked, letting go of her hands.
“I-I was just thinking of…the cabin.” She whispered brokenly. The only other time I had seen her like this was when she was in the witch’s dungeon…13 years ago.
“Evy…there was nothing you could have done. Nothing!” I told her firmly, but she just shook her head.

Amielya
Glass littered the floor, wind blowing in through the destroyed windows bringing with it a sickening sweet scent.
“What is that smell?” Cyn whimpered as she rose from her corner. Amielya sniffed the air delicately, recognizing the scent immediately.
“Rouges” She hissed as she ran around the house gathering what she could, before running back to her mother’s room, backpack in hand. Quickly grabbing Cynthia’s hand, Amielya whispered a broken goodbye and ran, with Cyn in tow.
…………………………………
They ran and ran for hours, days…maybe even weeks. All they knew was that they had to keep moving. Searching for a nearby pack, in hope of finding Amielya ‘s father. Suddenly the same sickening sweet stench from the house surrounded them. Turning back in a panic the two started to run, but quickly came to a halt as a wolf appeared, its teeth bared, red eyes like ruby’s in the dark forest night.
And…with another growl……it pounced.

“Ev?!” I snapped out of the horrid memory. I looked around, completely lost.
“Ev, did you hear what I said?” Cyn asked she looked at me with her deep ocean blue eyes. From the look on her face, she knew exactly what I was thinking.
“Don’t you see Cyn…It is my fault. It was me who had urged my father to go out more. It was me who suggested leaving the woods, had I not…” I trailed off not able to finish my sentence, tears brimming.
“Then you, your father, brother AND mother, would have been killed,” Cyn said furiously, she eyes darkening in frustration “if it weren’t for you many more lives would have been taken.” I nodded, slowly, knowing she was at least partially right.
“Good, now let’s go before your father decides to send a search party.” Cyn laughed, standing up, pulling me along. We started in the direction of the pack house…when a branch snapping underfoot had us freezing in our tracks. A faint scent lingered in the air……
Sickening sweet.
