Amielya
Finally! My wolf sighs as the three of us watch Jesse and his warriors fight the rouges outside the stone house from the treetops. After we had armed ourselves to the teeth and climbed out the window it was a straight shot to the rouges, and with the amount of wolves Jesse took with him it was no wonder their scent was so easy to follow.
“So how do you want us to approach?” Cyn whispered next to me. I watched as the two packs fought. Jesse’s pack was no doubt winning, but the rouges weren’t going down without a vicious fight.
“Rift…less chance of getting caught and besides, there is no need to distract Jesse’s men with our presence.” I answered her, my eyes not leaving the battle raging below.
“And what of Avery? She can’t pass through!” Cynthia whisper shouted in my ear. Without a word I dug in my jeans pocket and pulled out a silver pendant with an electric blue stone. The pendant was crafted by one of the strongest witches, Elder Reala, to allow the wearer to drift from the living world and into the spirit world. Now dangling the pendant in front of Avery, she watched it like a cat would a mouse, her eyes shifting from hazel to the same electric blue of the pendant. Taking Avery’s right arm I slid her sleeve up to her forearm and with a quick flick of my wrist cut a long deep line down her arm with one of the two wings from her pendant. Hissing she snatched her arm from me so fast she went tumbling down toward the forest floor, with nothing more than a short yelp of surprise.
Avery
I waited for the impact with the forest floor, but it never came.
“You can open your eyes now.” I heard Amielya’s voice laugh. Slowly I obeyed, opening my eyes to see sharp violet eyes staring back at me, but when I tried to crawl away…I couldn’t, instead I was completely immobile. With a toothy grin the eyes moved back to reveal a face and long snow white hair. Tearing my eyes from the woman in front of me I looked around to find myself in the same forest, except everything was…slower. The rouges and Jesse’s men were still fighting, but it seemed almost as if they were under water, their movements sluggish, the sound muted…and the once green forest was void of color. Instead of a range of greens and browns it was a rather surprisingly large range of blacks, greys and whites.
“Cool, huh?” Amielya laughed, but when I looked up it was the same woman as before with her flowing white hair and glowing violet eyes…the only color in this new world of black and white. Again the woman smiled, though it did nothing to the harsh glare in her eyes. Silently, she watched as I struggled to move back, only succeeding in lifting a finger, if even that, and as she watched that cold stare turned into one of humor.
“Just give her the damned necklace would you?” Cynthia’s voice called out from behind me, before yet another woman came to stand in front of me, only this one had eerie silver eyes and an astonishing shade of green hair.
“What the hell in going on?” I wanted to shout, but no noise came out. I watched with wide eyes and a sense of complete helplessness as the white haired woman approached me with what looked like a silver dagger. Squeezing my eyes shut, I pushed as a hard as I could against the invisible barrier holding me in place, struggling to at least move a step back from the witch slowly approaching me. I was able to stumble a small step, but it was too late, the woman took hold of my right arm and slid the dagger down its length in a slow fluid motion, before she whispered something in my ear.
Everything snapped back into place; the color returning to the forest, the men speeding back up to normal and the sounds that were once dulled now blared in my ears like a sonic boom. But when I turned back around, gun in hand and finger on trigger, the two women were gone. I looked down at my right arm where the white haired woman had ever so slowly slid the dagger into my skin, shocked to find no blood but a long white scar. Slowly I touched it, pulling away with a hiss when it burned, pain flaring just under the skin.
