18. Pacing and Timeskips

If characters in a story are like cars racing against each other, be it in teams or solo, then the pacing of a story is without a doubt the race track. And this begs the question, how many turns should said race track have and what's the space between them?

Complicated stuff indeed. 'It should be balanced out throughout the entire course' I hear some of you say. Fair enough...but then, why is it that for most stories, THIS happens:

But at this point, why not just start the story at said arc? What do you mean there's WAIFUS to collect in prior arcs as well? Is this what it was all about to begin wi- Oh, who the hell am I kidding, OF COURSE THIS IS WHAT MATTERS, MY DEAR STUDENTS!

This is precisely why 99% of all Wattpad fanfics are romance/harem, because that serves as the motivation that birthed said story. And don't y'all try to hide it from me! I've seen your Wattpad search history. All the ' x character' searches. Then again, can't blame you.
