More often than not, you hear the word 'backstory' being thrown around. It's basically a description of who your character is, why is he here and why does he act they way he does.

Hmm? Yeah, you can put that in the bio too, if you want.

But what I want to discuss today is what should that backstory contain. Now, it usually differs depending on the show you're writing about, to fit the narrative and so on.

Already sounds like too much work, doesn't it? Yeah, I thought so too.

Here's a little lesson in trickery.
Copy-Paste is tool of writing mastery.

What do I mean by that? Let me give ya some examples.

1. My hero academia:

1 not so quirky boy about to become VERY quirky, if you catch my drift. Cause "I wanna be a hero!". Hmm? Izuku Midoriya? Never heard of him.

2. Infinite Stratos:

What's that? A male piloting an IS? Make that double, boi. Don't worry, they're 'childhood friends' and that explains EVERYTHING. World building? That's so old-fashioned. You know what's in fashion now? This!

You know what's in fashion now? This!

3. Attack on Titan:

Did anyone order another Titan shifter? Cause the stock is full of them. Especially those whose parents are dead.

4. Highschool DxD:

...

...

...

Just...roll it...

In case you still didn't pick up on it, it's ok to borrow the same backstory and abilities from the og main character

In case you still didn't pick up on it, it's ok to borrow the same backstory and abilities from the og main character. People won't even notice it, as they're too busy drooling over the harem list.

But here is an important details. Perhaps the only difference between your mc and the original one is that yours is obviously stronger! Why or how, meh, doesn't need that much explanation. Just pull the good old "you don't train enough" or "not everyone has talent for it" or "I'm the main character now" card. No, never heard about any Mary Sue.
