When I opened my eyes the next morning I could feel the warm sunshine carressing my face and nudging me to get up. Its bright rays illuminated the room, bouncing off the beige coloured walls and giving the place a cherry atmosphere. Sitting up in bed I checked the time, seven fifteen.
With a yawn I stretched my arms above my head, my shoulders giving off a satisfying pop. Climbing out of bed I walked across my peach marble floor and to my silver and black themed bathroom where I took a shower to wash off the sweat that accumulated during the night.
Refreshed, I brushed my teeth and washed my face with my aloe vera and cucumber face wash. Drying it on a towel I applied face moisturizer with the same band; Oriental Botanics. I never had to do much for my skin as it was naturally clear and flawless, due to my genetics which were ten times stronger than those of a human.
Not all she wolves were as lucky as me, some had to apply all sorts of creams, oils and lotions just to cover up their acne. Then for that extra glow, more products. By the time they were done, their pores were clogged. Classic example: Bailey.
Aunt Vanessa wanted her daughter to be the most beautiful she wolf in Blue Moonstone Valley. Hence the reason she went to a beauty salon once a week and had such an intense diet. Not to mention her daily beauty routine, which by the way could rival that of a Hollywood celebrity.
You see, Bailey hadn't found her mate yet, she was still searching for him and since she was technically an Alpha's daughter, Aunt Vanessa wanted her mate to be of high status. Smart, handsome, powerful and above all: wealthy. And I guarantee you if Bailey's mate had anything but those four attributes, Aunt Vanessa will disown her on the spot.
Changing into a pair of denim shorts, a plain white T-shirt and a pair of loafers, I passed a brush through my hair and let it fall down my back, not wanting to spend a lot of time on it and keep Uncle Trevor waiting. We liked to leave early and spend the day at the lake, immersing ourselves in a wide range of activities.
Unlike his mate and children, Uncle Trevor didn't extract pleasure from doing the things rich people usually indulge in. Shopping with outrageous amounts of money, socializing with large crowds and gossiping about others didn't appeal to him.
What he most enjoyed was quiet activities, small get togethers and constructive activities; reading in the library over a cup of tea on a cold evening, watching documentaries on National Geographic, golfing in the park with friends and on occasion, a football game in Monroe's Stadium with his Beta, Gamma and Delta.
On a typical Saturday morning, we'd take a stroll through the flower fields, soaking up the peaceful atmosphere provided by the seclusion and tranquility of Blue Moonstone Valley. Sometimes I'd bring a book and read a chapter or two aloud. Uncle Trevor would then initiate a discussion regarding what I read, which I immensely enjoyed.
Towards the evening time we'd let our wolves out so they can roam about. Like Uncle Trevor and I, Tabarik was like a father to Keira. The day my parents died and I was left alone in the bloodstained garden, Tabarik was the one to find me and bring me home. He didn't let anyone near me until I was safely inside.
From that day he grew very protective and behaved aggressively towards anyone who came too close. The pack elders came to the conclusion that the reason behind Tabarik's strange behavior was because he felt somewhat responsible for what happened. Keira and I gravitated towards Tabarik and Uncle Trevor and they took us under their wing, giving us all the rights of a daughter, rather than a niece.
Picking up my phone I ran out the door and made my way downstairs. Uncle Trevor was reading the papers, Aunt Vanessa was drinking coffee and Bailey was munching on a waffle, her eyes glued to her usual fashion magazine.
