Chapter 9 - The Attacker

*Foot Clan Soldier*

The Foot Clan soldier ran across the rooftops, his arms glued to his sides so he seemed to glide. His head was sore from where he hit it when he fell. That stupid girl got the better of him. He scowled, but then remembered what he witnessed. He was able to injure the girl with ease, but to his surprise he saw the wound beginning to heal. Why would a simple city girl have the ability to heal at such an alarming rate? The soldier knew the only person who could understand this phenomenon was Sacks. So that's who he was going to tell.

*Dani*

I had slept for a few hours and was soon awake and making my way back to where everyone else was. The ache in my arm was now just sore like after a hard workout. I crossed my arms and hugged them against my body. My mind went over every detail of the attack and I repeatedly scolded myself for not fighting back harder. The space around me was quiet besides the faint scuff of my shoes on the ground. My mind wandered back to Raphael and the conversation, or whatever it was, before I went on my own. He seemed so offended that I wouldn't accept his help... How could he of all people not understand the fact I don't need other's help? I sighed softly and let my head hang slightly.

"Mind if I walk with you?" A soft, female voice asked.

I turned my head to see April, standing a little awkwardly. I smiled softly and nodded and she fell in step beside me.

"It seems like something's bothering you... Is it okay if I ask what?" April asked after a few moments of silence.

"It's just- I don't know..." I shrugged and looked down at the ground. "I just wish some people would understand that I don't need their help and I can handle things on my own. I don't need to be saved by anyone."

April laughed softly. "I understand that all too well. It's just some people don't like to take the hint because they care too much to actually listen."

My eyes widened slightly and I looked to April. "What makes you say it's because they care too much?"

"Well, have you ever noticed that when someone you really care about is in trouble or gets hurt you ignore everything they say just to help them and make sure they're safe?"

I slowly nodded in response. The idea made sense in a way, but it only left me more confused. Did Raph actually care? Or was he just a stubborn headed turtle?

*Foot Clan Soldier*

The soldier rushed through the halls of the Foot Clan headquarters. He flew by the other soldiers keeping watch, ignoring their confused glances. He burst into the grand hall where Sacks and the Shredder were talking quietly. He ran as close as he was allowed to go and dropped to one knee, bowing his head in respect.

"What is it?" Shredder said impatiently.

The soldier took a few deep breaths then looked up to the two men. "My men and I were patrolling the rooftops and ran into a large creature and a girl."

Sacks suddenly tensed and moved forward. "Describe the creature to me."

"Well it was huge! I couldn't completely tell what it was but it had a large cracked shell, it appeared to have three fingers, and it was angry. Very angry." The soldier paused a moment then continued. "The girl appeared like any ordinary girl, but then I had injured her."

"Why would we find that at all interesting?" Shredder asked in annoyance.

"Because after a few moments the wound began healing. Just stitching itself back together!"
