Chapter 22 - Endgame
*Dani*
I coughed then groaned in pain. Blood dribbled out of my mouth and trailed down my chin. I shakily put my hand over Sacks' attempting to pull his hand away, knife included, but Sacks threw me off of him. He had let go of the knife and I attempted to pull it out myself. He clucked his tongue and was now looming over me. He put a single finger at the tip of the small hilt and pushed down slightly. Even with the slight pressure pain erupted through my body like scolding lava.
"Leave it there," Sacks said quietly. I gasped in shock as my hands fell limp. I tried to move them to go back to the knife, but they wouldn't listen. "Your healing abilities are great, but even you can't heal with an object in the way." He glanced towards the bullet wound in my left arm and pouted. "That doesn't look pretty either." His hand left the knife and instantly my body was overcome with pain again as he dug his thumb into the bullet hole. I screamed out in agony and my vision blurred slightly.
"Dani!" April screamed to me.
I moved my head, tears clouding my vision. I blinked a few times and my vision cleared enough that I could clearly see April holding the mutagen, Casey at her side. Knowing April wouldn't listen to me, I made eye contact with Casey. I nodded slightly and he nodded back. He gripped April's arms tightly and began to guide her out of the lab. She fought him, but he was stronger and was able to get out. I was able to calm down knowing they got away.
"Oh Dani, you really think it's that much of a problem your friends got away with the mutagen?" Sacks asked with a shake of his head. "We'll get it back, just you wait."
I scoffed at him and coughed again. "You're an idiot Sacks, did you not remember we have ninja turtles on our side?"
Sacks scowled in anger. "Do not insult me, girl."
I opened my mouth to insult him again, but when I tried to I choked on my words. My eyes widened in fear and I began to frantically shake my head. "No, no. Donnie..."
"Donnie, what? Disarmed the chip?" Sacks said with a mocking tone. "You really think we would have used something so easily disarm-able?"
"Stop trying to make me your puppet!" I screamed in anger. With my right hand I jabbed at his throat and he choked. I thrust my hips, ignoring the pain in my chest, and rolled him off of me. I carefully got to my knees, trying not to put weight on my left arm as I did. I grabbed the hilt of the knife again and tried to pull, but I couldn't.
"Let me take it out!" I begged Sacks. Begging, had I really gone that far?
Sacks chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. "You will do me a favor in return."
Against my will, I nodded my head and repeated his words. "I will do you a favor in return." I wanted to vomit as I spoke the words. He had done it, he'd gained control over me once again.
"That's a good puppet." He clapped his hands together and I flinched slightly. "I'm sure your little Turtle Team members will be on their way soon, that is if they're not dead. My master doesn't like to leave survivors."
I clenched my fists angrily, wanting desperately to pull the knife from my own chest and plunge it into his. My head suddenly spun and dots clouded my vision. I groaned and felt as though I would throw up.
"Oh my, you got very pale..." Sacks muttered.
He moved towards me, but almost tripped as the building shook violently. Outside there was a loud groan, metal creaking and snapping. Sacks' eyes widened and he began to panic. He rushed to one of the computers and began to type frantically. I collapsed onto my side, my breathing slowing and tuning ragged.
