Chapter 10 - Taken

*Dani*

My vision began to cloud as I tried to fight off the Attacker. Damn those drugs. Damn them. I tried lifting my arms to push him away but they just hung limp at my sides. He was easily able to tie my wrists behind my back and secure my ankles together before throwing me over his shoulder like a weightless potato sack. I felt a word rising up in my throat like bile, in feel and taste. It was a word I rarely used and would have liked not to use in that moment.

"Help!" I screamed with the little strength my body held onto.

All the brothers looked towards me, but my gaze was searching for Raph. I didn't know why, it just was. I looked all around the room, but I couldn't find him. Where was he? Was he okay? My heart raced in my chest as worry filled my body. Did the others notice he wasn't here?

"Deal with them! Get the turtles under sedation and back to HQ!" The Attacker yelled to the other soldiers. They nodded in response and hurried to finish off the brothers.

"No..." I said in a quiet whisper, but it felt like I had screamed it.

As the Attacker walked, easily carrying my limp body, we passed a man covered in ancient armor. The little skin that showed was bulging muscle, and the eyes that bore into mine were horrifying. They were disfigured and menacing, and in that instant I knew exactly who I was staring at.

"Master Shredder." The Attacker said respectfully.

My fears were confirmed and I felt my heart begin to hammer in my chest. I had never felt fear like this. The throat tightening, body chilling, and heart stopping fear I had only heard about in stories.

"This is the girl?" His question was short, and the annoyance tainted every word.

"Yes." The Attacker responded quietly.

I tried wiggling my body to get away, but the most I could do was slightly swing my legs. My eyes widened in shock. I could swing my legs. My body was gaining the upper hand against the tranquilizer. I stilled. I would escape, but not yet. Not with Shredder standing so close.

"Hurry and go. The girl will not be paralyzed by the tranquilizer much longer." Shredder said, still staring at me.

My mind raced and my heart hammered, I couldn't wait. I couldn't. Who knew what was waiting for me back at the Foot Clan HQ. With my growing strength I brought my knees towards my chest, but they stopped, crashing into the Attacker's chest. He gasped in shock and I fell to the ground. I cried out as I landed roughly on my shoulder. I wiggled on the ground, my heart still going at a hundred miles an hour. Suddenly a heavy boot pressed down on my side, crushing my ribs so hard I thought they might break.

"She is a fighter." Shredder said menacingly. "She may be of use to me besides her special abilities." He raised his boot from my side and I sucked in a huge gulp of air. Suddenly his raised boot came rushing at my head and the last thing I heard before I blacked out was an angry cry joined shortly after by a few others.

*April*

Everything was unfolding like a whirlwind, so fast April couldn't keep track of where each brother went. As she scanned the crowd of fighting soldiers she noticed Raphael was nowhere to be seen. Donatello, Michelangelo, and Leonardo were all battling their own group of Foot Clan ninjas and somewhere along the way Splinter had shown up. He was fighting his way towards a tall man covered in sleek metal armor. Next to the man was the soldier that had taken Dani. The soldier was hunched over, his hands hugging his stomach and Dani was on the ground struggling to escape. April had to withhold a gasp as the metal man pressed his foot against her side. April could see the pain on Dani's face and wanted more than anything to help, but she had to stay put. April's eyes were drawn to Splinter who watched in horror as the metal man raised his foot and slammed it against Dani's head. Time seemed to slow in that moment. As Dani's head hit the ground there was a loud crack and her eyes fluttered shut. Splinter let out a loud cry, joined by Leo, Donnie, and Mikey. They all plowed through the soldiers, making their way towards Dani's unconscious body. The metal man gave the soldier a signal and the soldier heaved Dani's body into his arms and quickly darted from the lair, followed by a few Foot Clan ninjas.
