Chapter 16 - Casey Jones

*Dani*

The brothers were staring in shocked silence at me as I laid on the table. I continued to stare Donnie down, not flinching or letting my feelings get the best of me.

"But, Dani," Donnie said softly, "I don't even know how to get it out."

My head fell back against the table and I ignored the sharp pain it caused my head. "Yes you do! Either you know how to get it out or you know how to disable it. Either way, you know what to do. You're just scared." Donnie was taken aback by my sudden outburst, but I didn't feel sorry. Before he could talk back to me, I continued on. "Can you just let me loose from this table. I want to go for a walk so I can clear my head, and I can't do that when I'm strapped on a table being stared at by ten eyes."

Splinter sighed and looked away from me then looked to Donnie. He inclined his head slightly and Donnie hesitantly moved to the table. Within a few seconds I was sitting up, rubbing my wrists where they were sore.

"Thank you..." I said softly, not looking up to anyone.

"You're not going to attack us again, are you?" Raph asked out of the blue, his tone cold.

Splinter's head whipped in his direction and his eyes widened in shock. "Raphael!" He exclaimed as Leo shot Raph an angered look.

I sighed heavily and pushed myself from the table, my legs shaking slightly once my feet touched the ground. "I'm going to take a walk." I said, and before anyone could protest me leaving I hurried out of the lab.

I made my way through the winding sewers and was soon breathing in the early morning air of the surface world. In the distance the sun was beginning to peek over the horizon, melting away the lingering chill of the night. I crossed my arms over my chest and took a slow, deep, breath. My mind began to wander back to what Raph had said before I left. Why would he ask that? Did he really think I was going to lose it and attempt to kill them again?

"No," I mumbled as I shook my head. "I had no control over what I did. It was Shredder, not me." Even with my attempt at calming myself my anger bubbled in my stomach and I squeezed my arms tightly. I turned my attention to my feet and watched them with every step I took. Suddenly there was a loud, deep, screaming and just as I looked up a weight greater than my own slammed against my body. We slammed into the ground and I felt the wind get knocked from my chest. Sharp pains erupted along my arms and I knew I had scraped them along the sidewalk. I groaned heavily and lifted my head up to assess the situation. On top of me was a boy, I don't know how old, laying on top of me.

"Are you going to just stay there or get off of me so I can actually breathe?" I asked in annoyance.

The boy shifted and pushed himself off my body. I sat up and quickly checked my arms to see how badly they'd been scratched up, but there were only spots of dried blood. I wiped away what I could then looked to the boy, my eyes widening slightly when I saw just how attractive he was. He gave me a gap-toothed smile and laughed softly.

"Sorry about that," he said sincerely. "I hope you're not too badly hurt."

I gave him a half smile in return and shook my head. "No, I'm fine."

"Okay, good. I would've felt bad if I did hurt you." He stood up, slipping slightly and that's when I noticed he was wearing a weird pair of roller blades. He did something that caused the wheels to flip over and he was back in normal shoes. He extended a hand out to me and I hesitantly took it.
