Ash POV
I woke up the next morning and stared at my ceiling. I'd still have to go to basketball practice this morning and I wasn't looking forward to it at all. After fighting myself I finally rolled over and immediately regretted it. Normally I have a very high pain tolerance, so feeling the intense stabbing sensation in my arm was extremely irritating. I carefully undressed and navigated my way to the shower. I hissed as water made contact with my wounds and I watched the red tainted water go down the drain as I cleansed myself.
I dressed , treated and rewrapped my arm before making my way downstairs to eat. Ma would be dropping us off since I still couldn't drive for the next two weeks."After you eat come get that eye bandaged baby" Ma called from the living room.
I was too tired to respond so I finished my breakfast and just came to her when I was done. She placed a white bandage over my right eyebrow where it cut from the blows I took yesterday.
"Thanks" I muttered.
"Mhm now you and your brother meet me in the car I don't wanna be late for work." She said picking up her keys. When I walked into the gym late all heads turned towards me. It was only girls in the gym so I walked in and greeted them. They all had concerned faces seeing the bandages on my body so they weakly dapped me up while their eyes held a million questions and concerns.
"Aye yall know where coach J is? I gotta talk to him real quick" I said putting down my backpack.
"Oh you ain't see the group chat this morning?" Sam said
"Uh... no" I didn't want anything to do with my phone this morning. I was irritated as is and didn't want anything to do with the world.
"Coach J gone be gone for a while cuz he got family stuff going on" She told me
"Well then who's gonna coach yal -"
"LADIESSSSSS WHY ARE WE STANDING AROUND? I need y'all on the baseline and set up 5 ball passing please. Now" Coach C boomed as she walked back in the gym.
Aw hell naw.Sam shot me an apologetic look before running to the baseline and starting the drill.
"Ashlyn? Why are you late AND not dressed out?" Coach said walking over to me.
I pivoted towards her and cocked my head. I just lifted up my arm and then shrugged trying to be respectful.
"So you got a lil cut on your arm and that makes you late and not dress out? You can still run." She said
I let out a low chuckle. "My bad coach I can't drive until further notice and my mom had to take me and my brother to school and she is a very busy woman." Did I really want to deal with this woman every morning? "Also I was only here to inform Coach J of what happened to me and that I was attacked so I am to be suspended from practice and extra stuff till further notice as well. But seeing as he is not here I guess I've fulfilled my duties." I said turning around.
"Well while you're here can you help with the clock and set up jerseys for a scrimmage?" Coach asked. Is these niggas serious!?!?
"Aaactually I need to meet up with a few teachers about how some assignments are going to work seeing as I'm not able to use my left arm." I said picking up my backpack and walking out before she could question whether or not I was left-handed.
By this time students had started coming in so the school wasn't as empty as it was before. I started walking towards the other side of the school so I could be closer to my advisory period. I put my AirPods in and started listening to Glitter by Tyler the Creator. I bounced my head gently as I walked and observed the people in the school. You had the dancers, the fighters, the smokers, the chill people, the smart people and you had...
