Nothing compared to the feeling the lonely, high school student felt. Laying on a flat, dented mattress that was too sad to be considered a bed. The younger Nijamura laid as comfortably as he could on the thin mattress. Wide eyes, naturally glaring at the ceiling above as he fidget with his fingers that rested on his abdomen.
How long will it take for him to fall asleep? How many hours of sleep would he get if he did fall asleep? Would he wake up late for school tomorrow? Or would he not sleep at all tonight?..
His thoughts were interrupted when the loud thumps nearby his room echoed the hall. Nijimura Senior must've been awake. Deep croaks escaping the boy's throat that didn't classify as irritated mumbling, since his own body was tired and weak to make out such simple task. As the thumping went on, the boy kept his eyes focused on the discolored paint above him.
What was it that Josuke taught him when he couldn't sleep? Yeah. Counting up to one hundred by twos. As putting in the effort, the boy struggled to even make it up to the number that came after 24. God this was a load of shit! The Nijimura forced his eyes shut as he arms moved away from their originated spot and sprawled across the mattress as the thin sheets dragged alongside the limbs. He hated being alone, and independent. The feeling only grew stronger when loosing his brother, though he hated how he was treated by the brother. He was the only one he could look up to after losing their mother and losing their father by going down the wrong path. He wish he was stronger, without Keicho.
Tears rapidly escaped his forcibly shut eyelids, and his fists tightened in grief. As the rest of his body stayed frozen, as not even sniffles escaped the teenager.
--
The buzzing of adolescent teens outside his house and other noises filled the empty house. His eyes opened slightly as his eyesight was blurred. Shifting around as he laid on his mattress, staying put as his eyes slowly closed automatically- falling back asleep to the droning of soft voices that disappeared and came around by his house.
--
Not even a half hour later the unrecognizable grunts of a creature broke into the blackness of the teenager's eyes as he woke up. Feeling what wasn't limbs, but thick leaves. Tickling the boy's nose as purrs vibrated off the leaf and onto this boy to force him awake.
"Oi, I hear ya, Stray. I'm up. Ya don't have to keep tickling my nose." the tired teenager, shooed the leaf away as his nose wrinkled to get the ghostly sensation off his nose.
Heaving his body off his uncomfortable bed and away from the plant that sat on his short night stand. Exiting his room and into the more emptier hall of the house, shuffling down the stairs and on his way to the lonely, dark kitchen. Not taking anytime to hesitate to the small kitchen cabinet underneath the sink to retrieve food and a watering can filled with water just for his bizarre cat like plant.
Setting his materials down, the boy got the itchy urge to stretch out and yawn. Doing so as both his arms stretched above his head with a wide open mouth as morning breath spilled out; eyes watering and still quite blurry. Those same eyes looked over at the clock above the kitchen doorway.
7:43 A.M.
Nearly choking on his own yawn, the tired boy now kicking it with action. A hand slapping his forehead and a distraught look on his face, hopping nervously on both feet. "Shit! Shit! I'm late again!"
Running up the stairs with both hands filled with the materials for Stray and a wrinkled, but clean school uniform. Holding his shoes by his own teeth as panic was radiating off him. "I'm thorry, Th'ray! I can't pour yo'food out fo'ya!" he muttered under the material of his shoes clenched by his front teeth.
The creature who just looked confused at the teenager's demeanor. Swiftly getting dressed, and fixing his hair up as much as possible. He finally spat his shoes out and got his feet into them comfortably. Not taking any much more time than he already took, the boy rushed out the door and ran down the street to his secondary school.
Stray Cat on the other hand sat in the pot confused, but didn't hesitate to bring his way closer to the food and water that was left for him.
