CHAPTER 29
『Qualifiers』
❝Who the heck is he?❞

"LANGA! KAITO-NII!" Miya called out to the pair, "I thought Reki would be with you two but I guess he decided not to enter the race after all..."
"That's right, he's not." Kaito looked down.
"What happened?" Miya asked, seeing his friends sad faces.
"We..."
"I bet he's just being a weiner about Adam." Shadow interrumped, laughing at his 'joke', causing Kaito to glare at him.
Soon, the qualifiers started, and Miya was going first. The white haired male was quite worried, because the little boy was going to skate against ADAM. In the end, to no one's surprise, ADAM ended up first and Miya second.
Joe and Langa's group was next, and Kaito saw Langa being surrouned by no name skaters. "Hah, booorriiing." Shadow said.
"The qualifiers are misleading, it's obvious who's going to win." Cherry scoffed. "Failing in the first race is one way to get laughs." Shadow retorted.
Cherry and Shadow were next, making Kaito cheer for Cherry in his mind. Even if he was friends with Shadow, he still didn't forgive him for that comment he made about Reki.
"Wait, where did that guy come from? He just passed Shadow!" Kaito mumbled, staring intensly at the screen.
And finally, it was Kaito's turn. The lights turned green, and he hurriedly took off.
"I won't let you win, pretty boy!" A guy tried to make him fall by punching him, but the volleyball player dodged and hit him back. "I'm the one who won't let you win, idiot."
He then saw how other skaters were trying to take him out, "You shouldn't do that, it's disrespectful!" He dodged them. Then, one of those guys threw firecrackers to Kaito.
Kaito rolled his eyes and jumped high over the firecrackers that ended up on the floor, earning surprised stares from the crowd.
The same group started following him, but with his speed, they couldn't even go near him.
"Let's go KAI!" He heard the crowd shout when he was nearing the finish line. The white haired male sighed once he finished, going towards Langa.
"You did well, dude."
"Yeah, you too..."

"What are you doing out here, Shiro?" Kaito asked the dog who (obviously) didn't reply, "Did mom and dad kick you out?" He sighed, "I'm sure they did... Let's get you inside, little guy."
The boy opened the door and quietly entered the house. He didn't need nor want to have another fight with his parents. "Shiro, stay still." He lightly scolded the dog, who kept trying to lick his face.
Kaito opened his bedroom's door and put Shiro on the floor.
"Don't get on top of my bed, you'll make it dirty!" He picked up the dog again, "I'll wash your paws so don't you dare move."
He took out some wipes and started cleaning off the dirt from Shiro's paws. "Now you can go to bed. I'm going to take a shower, so stay there and don't make a sound."
Kaito did as he said. He took off his clothes, turned on the hot water and entered the shower. "It feels nice~" He groaned in pleasure.
Several minutes later, he put on his favourite pajamas and went to his room. There, he picked up his phone and unlocked it.

ME Umm... Hey, Reki! Did you really mean what you said yesterday? ... reki?
Yesterday -15:34
ME Hey! Today's the tournament, just wanted to let you know.
Today -1:23
ME Langa and I got through the qualifiers.
Kaito sighed. He knew that Reki wasn't going to answer, but he sent him another message just in case.
ME I miss you.
He shut off his phone and hugged his dog tightly (Of course not THAT tight. We don't want a dead Shiro, do we?), "Does he really hate me that much?"
Kaito didn't cry that night, since he had no tears left.
With Reki's and his broken friendship, his parents coming back, him supposedly having to go study abroad, ADAM's competition and the pressure of the incoming Spring Interhigh Qualifier... Kaito felt like he was about to exlode.

i'm sorry for taking a long time to update this story. i've been really busy and when i had the time to write this i didn't feel really motivated.
this is a really short chapter, i know! but i don't really know what else to put, since i want to write what comes next in the next chapter.
