Grace was still laying with Meredith and was telling her everything that had happened with her uncle Alex the previous night

"Derek?" Bailey softly knocked on the door "Can we talk to you?"

"Of course. Mer, Gracie, yell if you need me" He kissed both their heads and walked out of the room

"Derek.. We hate to say this but we just got a response from the guy who did this. He claims that he didn't know what he was doing" Richard sighed

"You gotta be kidding me? Mer's in that bed because of him! She'll need a wheelchair, she'll need OT and PT because of.. him" Derek got angry

"We know Drek, that's why we're gonna put our lawyers on it and make sure he gets what he deserves" Bailey rubbed his shoulder gently

Derek nodded softly as tears streamed down his face

"We also have to look out for someone who can take over general, at least for a while until Meredith would be able to return" Bailey hated to talk about this

"If she's able to return" Derek sighed

"Yeah" Bailey nodded

"Fuck, Fuck all of this!" He yelled and pushed a cart away

"Derek-" Richard tried to calm him down

"No! My wife had a stroke! She's not even 40 yet and she had a fucking stroke because of some man that now even claims it's not his fault that he was agressive?" Derek spat out

"Daddy!" He heard his daughter yelling from inside "Daddy!" This time even louder

Without thinking, Derek had ran inside

"Daddy, mommy's scared because you were yelling" Grace softly explained as Meredith's left side of her body was shaking in fear

"Oh Mer, I'm so sorry" Derek started apologizing as he softly stroked her hand

"I- No.. D-Der?" Meredith made no sense at all, her emotions were clearly all over the place "H-Home.. What?"

"Mer, you need to calm down so I can understand what's wrong" Derek begged her

"N-No" Meredith shook her head as everything was overwhelming her

"Shh" Grace whispered and kissed her mother's cheek

Meredith closed her eyes and leaned softly against Grace

"It's 'kay mommy" Grace softly whispered

Derek watched his two girls with tears in his eyes "Thanks Gracie" He softly kissed her forehead "Take a nap" Derek whispered as he kissed Meredith's cheek

"Sleep mommy" Grace repeated

...

"Mommy, here" Grace handed her mother some of the fries Alex had brought them

Meredith nodded and reached for them with her left hand before slowly bringing them to her mouth

"Here mommy, grab another nugget!" Grace giggle as she just finished her own

"T-Thanks" Meredith softly whispered. She wouldn't admit it but she was starving. She could only hope all food could be eaten with hands from now on

"You wanna try these cheese dips?" Derek offered her

"Oh- Okay?" Meredith slowly reached out to grab one before stuffing it into her mouth and smiling slightly. Her right side of her face still drooping

"You like them, huh?" Derek smirked and smiled as she nodded in response

"I- I like" She nodded softly

"I thought so" Derek smiled and watched her as she tried grabbing the coke in front of her but it slipped out if her hands and the cup fell over on the tray

"Oh- no! Oh!" She gasped and flinched

"It's okay" Derek quickly put it upright again and cleaned the tray

"S-stupid" Meredith closed her eyes and turned her head away

"Mommy, no one's stupid!" Grace gasped "It's 'kay. Daddy cleaned it up" Grace said sternly but Meredith kept her eyes tightly shut as tears were trying to escape "mommy, here" Grace handed her the cup

Meredith slowly turned around and carefully grabbed the cup in her left hand before sipping the coke

"See? All better" Grace giggled before she picked another nugget and dipped into the sauce

Derek looked as Meredith shakily put the drink back on the tray and smiled softly as she completed the task

"Daddy, can I have that new doll for my birthday?" Grace asked as she saw an advertisement on the tv that was playing in front of them

"This one?" He winked

"B-Birthday?" Meredith asked while frowning softly

"Silly mommy" Grace giggled

"Her birthday's soon" Derek quietly whispered

"Oh" Meredith breathed "I- I have to go h-home?" Meredith said but it sounded more like a question

"Mer, we don't know yet" Derek sighed

"No.. I have to go home" She nodded

"We'll see" Derek sighed. He loved his wife but sometimes her stubborn side made her so.. stubborn

Grace sat up a bit more and started digging into her small backpack that Alex had brought her. She took out her favourite book and laid back down

Meredith seemed to be in thoughts about Grace's birthday when the little girl pulled her out of these thoughts

"Mommy, read with me" She looked up and Meredith nodded. Meredith started staring at the book and had no idea what to do, she couldn't read, she had no idea at all

"Mer?" Derek worried when he heard Meredith's breathing quickening

"Mommy, look! It's a dog!" Grace started pointing at the images

"Mer, what's wrong?" Derek quietly asked

"No.. R-Read?" She was in a big fuzz

"You- You can't read?" Derek gulped

Meredith nodded

"It's okay. We'll deal with it" Derek kissed her forehead softly while their daughter kept pointing at pictures in the book

"And a cat!" She kept giggling "What's this?" She pointed at an image of a certain animal

"Oh, Der?" Meredith had no idea either

"Looks like a rhino to me" He frowned as he kept looking at his wife who seemed to be very self conscious

"Ohh" Grace nodded "I love their horns. You too, mommy?" Grace smiled as she looked up at her mother as her small finger was softly over the picture

"Y-Yeah" Meredith nodded as she was looking at the picture as if she was trying to memorize how a rhino looked like

"Mommy, look! The sun" Grace giggled and Meredith was listening carefully
