Derek was bringing Meredith to their house after a long day at the hospital. Her talking had gotten way better if she talked to people she knew but she refused to talk to others since the accident at the store

Derek's hand was laying over her hand, her hand still barely worked but she could finally take a few steps before she had to sit down, she even could step a bit further if Poppy was helping her with keeping her stability

"What do you wanna do once we're home?" Derek asked Meredith

"Sleep" She whispered and looked out of the window

"Of course" Derek nodded softly and continued driving home

Once they finally arrived at the house Derek had helped Meredith to lay down in bed. He took Poppy outside so she could run for a bit while he helped her change to some more comfortable clothes

"No sleep without P-Poppy" Meredith muttered as he helped her lay down

"I'll go get her" Derek nodded

Over the past week it had become clear how attached she was to their dog. He had tried to ask if it was because she was scared to have a seizure by herself or for any other reason but she never really replied when he asked

It wasn't that Meredith was ignoring Derek, she just has a very hard time answering sometimes and especially in the evening that was shown by Meredith shutting down completely

"Poppy, come on! Back to mommy" Derek smiled as he called out for the Golden that was running in their backyard

Poppy ran inside, Derek quickly took off her gear and led her to Meredith

"Poppy" Meredith breathed and petted Poppy's head before the dog laid down on her spot next to the bed

"Sleep, I'm in the kitchen so send Poppy if you need me" Derek kissed her lips before leaving the room

He walked to the garden and started crying. He had never ever expected something like this to happen, not to his wife but especially not to his family

Derek pulled out his phone and called Bailey

"Bailey, is there any news yet?" Derek asked

"Trial is next week. Do you think Meredith is able to come and explain in front of court?" Bailey asked

"I hope.." Derek replied

"Do you think it's okay for me to come over? I heard she avoids talking to other people" Bailey tried

"We can try" Derek nodded

"I'll be there in an hour" Bailey nodded

"Thanks Bailey" Derek sighed and walked back inside to get some paperwork done

By the time Miranda had arrived at Meredith and Derek's house Grace was already back from school and Meredith was still asleep

"She improved a lot in a short time but her hand-" Derek started but shook his head as he and Miranda were talking about how Meredith has been doing

"You don't think she'll return?" Bailey frowned

"She still had no real feeling in her right hand, she keeps having this sleepy feeling in it and her tremble is pretty severe as well. We still avoid glass and everything that's not easy to hold

"I hate that this has happened to her" Bailey shook her head

"I know-" Derek sighed and saw Poppy running towards them "Excuse me for a minute, Mer's awake"

"Of course. Yell if I can do anything" Bailey nodded

"Hi. How was your nap?" Derek asked Meredith

"Good" She nodded softly

"Grace is home already" Derek told her

"Oh, good" Meredith smiled

"Mer, Bailey's here. We were talking about court earlier. Is it okay if she stays a bit longer so you two can catch up?" He asked her, a bit scared of her reaction

"Oh-" Meredith frowned

"I can ask her to leave-" Derek quickly said

"Uh- Court?" Meredith questioned

"Do you think you could testify in front of a judge?" Derek asked her

"I- I can try" Meredith nodded but looked away

"You don't have to if you're not feeling comfortable" Derek reminded her

"Try" Meredith shakily said

"Okay. Let's walk to your chair" Derek helped her sit up

"P-Poppy?" Meredith's breathing went faster

"She's here" Derek pointed at the golden fur next to the bed

"Kay" Meredith nodded and used Derek as support to walk towards her wheelchair as her leg was sore after PT

Derek pushed her towards the living room where Bailey was sitting down on the couch. Derek helped her transfer into the other one and watched as Poppy started licking Meredith's fingers, alerting him she was tensed

"Hi Meredith" Bailey smiled

"H-Hi" Meredith slowly looked into Bailey's eyes as her hand buried in Poppy's fur

"I heard PT is going well. Your transfer was pretty smooth" Bailey felt proud of Meredith

"Thanks" Meredith's other hand reaching for Derek's hand

"Mommy! You're awake!" Grace ran towards her

"H-Hi honey" Meredith opened her arm and giggled as the little girl ran in her arms and hugged her

"Hi Poppy" Grace kneeled down to brush her fingers through Poppy's furr

Meredith, Derek and Miranda kept talking as Grace ran back to her playroom 

Someone who has ideas? I'm having plans for the trial but that's it
