"Gracie, can you grab your toys?" Derek asked as he was packing Meredith's bag

"Okay" She rolled her eyes

"Hey, attitude" Derek chuckled

"Sorry daddy" Grace whispered and started collecting the toys

"Love you" Derek kissed Grace's head

"Love you too, daddy" Grace giggled

"Mer, you wanna shower here or at home?" Derek asked softly

"H-Home?" She asked as she looked up from Grace's picture book

"Okay. Maybe we can take a bath" Derek softly suggested

"Good" She nodded and kept staring at her hand that was tracing the lines in Grace's picture book

"I'm ready" Grace giggled

"I'm ready as well. You?" Derek asked Meredith

"Ready" Meredith smiled back

"I'll go sign the discharge papers" Derek kissed her lips and walked out of the room

"W-We're going home" Meredith looked at Grace

"Yes! We can play in the garden! I wanna play on the swing" Grace giggled

"Oh- s-swing.."

"Yes! Daddy always pushes me very high, you remember, mommy?"

"I- Yeah" Meredith nodded "Green.. Your swing, green"

"We chose the color" Grace giggled

"Outside" Meredith smiled

"Poppy will love our garden" Grace grabbed the picture again of the beautiful and young golden retriever

"P-Poppy" Meredith chuckled

"I'm so happy we have a dog" Grace giggled

"Me too!" Meredith said. Her speech finally sounded pretty normal again. Her speech therapy went good, in fact it went very good which kept their hopes up while her PT went difficult. Her leg would be okay with many hours of physical therapy but her hand stayed very weak

"Okay, everyone ready to go home?" Derek smiled as he walked back inside

"Yes" Meredith and Grace giggled at the same time

"Let's go" Derek smiled and lifted Meredith into the wheelchair

"Mommy, can I sit on your lap?" Grace giggled

"Oh- Yes" Meredith smiled widely and Derek helped their little girl so she wouldn't hurt her mom

"Let's go" Derek chuckled and pushed the wheelchair towards the exit

Meredith tightly held onto Grace as she closed her eyes. She couldn't deal with everyone staring at them

"Mer, we've reached the car" Derek said and first went to help Grace into the car "Okay, I'm gonna lift you up"

Derek had placed Meredith in her car seat and noticed she was badly overwhelmed

"It will be okay" Derek got into the car and held her hand tightly

"Nnnn" Meredith started slurring

"Fuck" Derek muttered under his breath but not loud enough for Grace to hear it "Mer, it's okay" Derek started but noticed the absent seizure had already started

"It's just mommy's brain taking a nap, daddy" Grace said with a calm voice

"I know, sweetie.. I know" Derek breathed

"W-What?" Meredith slowly shook her head

"It's okay, you were having another seizure. Close your eyes, I'll wake you up when we're home" Derek kissed Meredith's temple

...

"Here we are" Derek opened the door and wheeled Meredith inside. She was looking around and it wasn't clear for Derek is she recognised the house but she seemed to be satisfied as she looked around

"Mommy, you wanna play with me?" Grace asked

"Oh-" Meredith gasped and had a hard time talking

"Maybe later, Gracie" Derek replied "Why don't we go sit on the couch and have a quick snack"

"Yes! Can we watch a movie?" Grace smiled

"Of course" Derek nodded and carried Meredith towards the couch where she could calm down

"Home" Meredith smiled softly

"Home" Derek kissed her forehead

"Here, let's watch the little mermaid!" Grace giggled as she grabbed her mother's hand and held it as the movie started

Derek noticed Meredith wasn't watching the movie. Instead she was fidgeting and looking around. He wanted to ask her if she could remember the house or if she remembered their lives before but he didn't wanna scare Grace so he waited until she fell asleep. He carried her towards her room before he returned to Meredith

"Hi. Are you enjoying being home?" Derek asked softly

"Yes" Meredith smiled. Her eyes were clear "Tonight, sleep in bed together" Meredith slowly said

"Yes" Derek chuckled "It's been a while"

"Yes.." Meredith sighed

"Do you remember being here?" Derek grabbed both of her hands in his

"It-It's foggy" She nodded her head softly "Cliff.. C-Candles" She smiled

"You build me a house of candles" He nodded and smiled "Mer, I love you"

"I love you too" She replied softly

Her speech had gotten much better when she was calm and well rested

"I am so proud of you" Derek looked her straight into her eyes

"Why?" She looked at him, tears in her eyes

"Because they throw all the shit at you and still you deal with it. You just keep going" Derek kissed her hands

"H-Have to. You, Grace, us" Meredith smiled softly as a few tears stream down her face

"I think it's some time to cuddle. What do you think?" Derek asked as he whiped her tears away

"Cuddle" Meredith smiled as Derek pulled her in his arms, resting her head on his chest
