"P-Popp-y" Meredith whispered "Today is scary. Need be okay" Meredith whispered as the dog felt something was up

Poppy placed her paw on Meredith's left leg and buried her head in Meredith's chest

"T-Together" Meredith smiled as she rubbed the dog's fur

"Mommy! Daddy said we have to get ready!" Grace ran inside

"Oh-" Meredith nodded

"Hey, can I help you get dressed?" Derek asked her softly as he kneeled in front of her

"Stay-" Meredith grabbed his hand "Stay today"

"I will stay with you the whole day. Alex will take care of Grace. I promise" Derek kissed her head

"Poppy stay too" Meredith firmly said

"Poppy will stay too" Derek kissed her hand and smiled as Poppy licked Meredith's hand

"Poppy" Meredith smiled

"Mommy!" Grace ran in but scared Meredith

"Shh, it's okay" Derek squeezed her into a hug

"Hi mommy" Grace giggled

"Hi" Meredith smiled and opened her both arms so Grace could cuddle into it

"It's a big day. Right daddy?" Grace asked

"That's right honey. We have to go to court" He explained

"When's uncle Alex here?" Grace smiled

"He'll be here soon, honey" Derek kissed Grace's head

...

"Meredith, are you ready?" Derek asked as they arrived at the courthouse

Alex brought Meredith's wheelchair up to the car door but she refused

"No. Can- Can walk" Meredith nodded firmly

"Stubborn but this is why I love you" Derek smiled

He felt so proud of his wife. She was fighting and here she was. They were about to have a hard day in a hope the person who caused this would finally be punished for his actions

Meredith didn't wanna give in and show her vulnerable side and pushed herself on her feet with the help of Derek who then helped her walk inside with Poppy on her other side and the least in her strong hand

"You go Grey" Bailey started clapping as some of the doctors were watching her from the side

All the other doctors started joining her with clapping for Meredith who was focussed on making it inside but smiled as she tightened her grip on the leash

It was almost time for the trial to start and Meredith was getting really nervous. All eyes were on her so she reached for Poppy's fur

"Mommy, it's gonna be -kay" Grace cuddled into her mother's side

"Kay" Meredith breathed and looked at Tom Duncan, the guy who caused this as he was sitting in the corner

"I'm here and daddy and Poppy are here!" She smiled

"Know.. I know" Meredith softly nodded

Minutes went by but Meredith barely knew what was happening around her until Derek started talking to her

"Mer, you have to go talk" Derek said and helped her to the front where he helped her on a chair, Poppy staying close to Meredith, Derek kneeled next to her with his hand resting on her knee

"Dr Grey, can you tell me what happened that day?" The judge asked

"Dr Grey can't remember everything, as we said before" Meredith's lawyer spoke up

Meredith felt very overwhelmed with everything going on

"Dr Grey, can you tell me what mister Duncan took from you?" The judge asked this time

"I- I-" Meredith struggled "I could not- uh- help watch G-Gracie. My hand, my leg, hard. It was hard. Der got me Poppy. To help" Meredith spoke up

"Dr Grey got hit by mister Duncan. He smashed her against the cabinet and hurt her. She had a stroke which caused her right side to be damaged and leaving her with a seizure disorder" Her lawyer explained

Meredith couldn't focus any longer and felt her hands shaking as she tried to listen to what everyone was saying. She got alarmed when Poppy started licking her fingers

"Excuse me- I think she needs a break" Derek tried to stop them

"Dr Shepherd we really need to go on-" Duncan's lawyer said

"She's still recovering!" He snapped and felt her body drooping as Poppy started barking

Alex knew what was happening and rushed towards Meredith and Derek and she started shaking. They helped her on her side and guided her through the seizure. By the time she woke up Grace was joining them as well

Derek let her drink a bit before helping her back on the chair

"Are you feeling okay?" Derek asked her

"Fog- Foggy" Meredith closed her eyes for a few seconds and grabbed Poppy's collar before brushing her hand in the soft golden furr

"Do you think you can continue?" Derek asked as he ignored everyone that was staring at them

"Yes" Meredith nodded softly

"Love you mommy" Grace kissed her mother's cheek

"Love too" Meredith whispered

After a few minutes Alex and Grace walked back to their seats and the judge stood up

"I've seen enough" The judge said which scared Meredith and Derek

"Tom Duncan is guilty-" That was the only thing Meredith could heard before screaming scared her

"I'm not gonna go to prison because of that woman! She's a freak, she's retarted" Duncan yelled

"D-Der-" Meredith was shaking

"Shh"

"She's delusional if she thinks she can become a doctor again!" Duncan kept yelling

"And who's fault would that be?" Alex growled

"Der-"

"Dr Grey, I assure he's gone and he'll be locked up for a very very long time" The judge said as she kneeled down in front of Meredith

"T-Thanks" she nodded towards the judge before leaning into Derek's touch "H-Home.. please" Meredith whispered in Derek's arms

"We won. He won't bother us anymore" Derek promised

"Home.. Celebrate small" Meredith nodded as she was still slightly out of it

"Celebrate" Derek smiled and kissed her forehead
