This situation can't get any worse.
That was the only thought in New Raph's head, tossing and turning in his head and playing on repeat because it was the only thing keeping him grounded. It can't get any worse. Their Donnie had their April and whoever "Leatherhead" was, and on top of that Donnie had every advantage in keeping them all right where he wanted. This was as bad as it could get.
All New Raph had was his denial. If that wasn't true and the situation could still get worse, then he was going to lose his mind; he knew he would.
It can't get worse. It can't get worse. Please, Hot Soup in the sky, please don't let it get worse from here.
"Raph?"
New Raph looked up from where he was glaring holes in the ground, silently hoping it would open up and swallow him whole. His baby brother stood in front of him and his heart dropped even deeper with guilt.
"Hey Mikey," He murmured. Little Mikey moved to sit beside him, hoping up on a taller rock beside him so the tops of their heads were around the same level. Raph knew it was probably a plot to make eye contact easier—Little Mikey was already thinking of things like that—but that didn't make him any more likely to abandon his glaring at the ground.
None of his brothers were okay. Little Mikey was still hurting and Donnie had turned into a monster, not to mention that Raph didn't even have any idea of where Leo was! He could be out there doing anything. And Donnie was bound to be suffering, but at least Raph had confirmation that it wasn't physical.
No; Donnie's counterpart had confirmed that for him once already.
New Raph sighed and let his mind wander back to the first ten minutes after the alternate Donatello had confessed it was his fault New April had been captured. Everyone was beyond angry, raging where they stood and practically ready to physically brawl it out where they stood.
It hadn't been fun at all...
"You told the other Donnie she was alone?" Leo had shouted. He pressed his hands against his head before throwing them both out beside him, wincing at the movement. "You willingly told someone with the Kraang that New April was alone?!"
"What the hell were you thinking, Donnie?" Raphael demanded with eyes just as wide.
Donnie raised his hands in surrender, shaking his head desperately. "I wasn't thinking!" He exclaimed, guilt oozing from each word. "I wasn't thinking at all. I was just so angry and scared that I just... I just wanted to get it through to him that his actions were hurting his family!"
"News flash, Donnie—he's mind-controlled! He's doesn't care." Leo inhaled through clenched teeth. "And now, you're the one who got her hurt. And you—"
Leo inhaled deeply, still clearly in pain with his legs shaking and so Raph rushed ahead to give him support. They kept their eyes locked on Donnie the whole time.
The Mikeys exchanged worried looks, but New Raph had had enough. They didn't have time for this.
"Stop!" He shouted, stepping forward and turning to his counterpart and Leo. "We can deal with whose fault it is later. Apr— New April is in trouble and we don't have time to stand here arguing. We have to go." He then turned around to look at Donnie, sending him an unreadable glare. Donnie hunched back ever so slightly, lowering his head just barely into his shell, and New Raph hesitated.
