"Raph, we have to go now!"

From her position slightly ahead, April could hear the conversation behind her going loud and clear. Casey and Donatello were desperately trying to convince Raph to keep running, but he just wanted to go back for Splinter. April couldn't blame him; she wanted to go back for her father too. What kind of daughter was she, letting her father get mutated twice now? The Kraang were ruining her father's life again and she was helpless to stop them.

But there was nothing to do left but run. So that was what they did.

Raphael eventually managed to catch up to the rest of the group, eyes wide and focused straight ahead. Donnie and Casey must have managed to convince him to get ahead. This was a relief for everyone; April knew as well as everyone else that Raphael was the best fighter here. If he got distracted from the loss of his father and fell behind, they could lose him too, and that was something they couldn't afford.

Not now. They couldn't afford to lose anyone else.

But, even if Raphael was now much farther ahead, Donnie and Casey were still too far back. And that wasn't good either. They were so close to the forcefield, what if they fell? April's mind raced with worrying possibilities as they kept running. It would only take one mistake for those two to get swallowed by the Kraang's plan and never return.

"Stop thinking about that," She scolded herself, "They're going to be fine. Just keep running."

But no sooner had she told herself that than did she hear Donnie scream out Casey's name. She turned back and gasped.

Casey had tripped. In a desperate attempt to catch himself, he'd grabbed onto Donnie's arm, but Donatello hadn't been expecting that and lost his balance. Casey pulled them both down. Now, lying on the ground, the forcefield was barely five feet away from them. It would swallow them both whole—neither had enough time to run.

They were about to be mutated.

April didn't hesitate; she took off running straight towards them. What was forcing her feet, she didn't know—there was no way she could help the two up in time. If she were listening to her logic, it would scream at her to stop running, because it would only lead to all three of them being trapped instead of just two. Donnie and Casey were a lost cause. She needed to escape.
