L E O N A

Sitting in my napkin-like gown to get inspected by the doctors was weird. I was here without my mate because before they can execute the plan to get Arjun. Jung made it clear he wanted me to be fully checked out before anything else happens.

So I sat on the cold hard medical bed. Waiting for the doctor.

'It feels like forever.'  Tyla says before she yawned.

Jung wanted to stay but he had to prepare for battle and I don't blame him. My ex-pack is made up of super-skilled warriors.

As I was getting lost in my thoughts I heard footsteps. In walked a pale woman with pretty mismatched eyes. One was a beautiful light blue. The other is an ethereal earthy green.

"Hello, future FM Beta. I am Brie, the pack doctor here. Can you tell me on a pain scale from one to ten, how would you rate your overall pain in your face?" She asked while looking at her clipboard. I got nervous and started twiddling my fingers.

'5' Tyla said as I ignored her.

"2" I replied with a shrug. My face must have been a bit puffed up.

"Okay, That's good. But we are gonna have to check your vitals. Just to make sure you don't have any internal bleeding or delayed speech."

"Ok."

She tried making conversation as she probed my face with shiny metal tools. She flashed a light in my eyes as she asked me my name.

"Leona Jones," I said while she nodded.

-

After we got some of the questions out of the way she stopped me.

"Stop lying. I can tell every time you lie. Your heart races a beat faster. If you keep it up I'm going to tell Future Beta that you are not in any condition to do anything." She said with a stern face on.

I was shocked.

Tyla shrugged it off as being one of the best pack doctors you have to know when your patients are lying.

I sighed before turning away from her in my hospital gown.

"Okay. I truly apologize but I don't know a lot of people here. And y'all seem nice but everyone is nice at first glance. I don't want you to use my words against me." I said shamefully but I needed to be able to go with them.

Even if the trauma is very hard to face, I can't let someone else's mate take the fall for me running away.

I don't even understand why they are kidnapping important people from this pack. He is the one who cheated and mentally abused me so much that I couldn't stay in the same house as him anymore.

"What? Why would I use your words against you? We have something called patient confidentiality here. Nothing you say will truly be told to anyone excluding the Alpha and Beta."

"Not very confidential," I said while putting my arms around myself. Tyla chuffed saying we needed to go on a run after this.

"They are above us but we will only tell them if they ask. And they probably won't. I'll try to be as vague as possible if you would prefer." She said with a slight frown. If I'm the future FM beta shouldn't she help me out?

"I'm trying to help save the other future alpha and I can't if I don't have a good check-up. I might not be one hundred percent good but I have to help." I pleaded with her.

///

I couldn't get her to appeal to my backstory.

"Beta, your mate has lied through half of her answers so I can't correctly figure out if she is capable to go. Leona isn't fully healed to be going anywhere."

"How so?" He said with his arms crossed over.

"Her reflexes are late," I faked it since I don't want anyone to know I'mma were-cat.

"Sure she is healing quite quicker than any other human but I know she is not at a hundred percent. I suggest that she stays home for the rescue mission. Maybe if you mate yall can communicate telepathically or something so she can help but I do not advise you take her to the war field."

"That pack won't take kindly to us invading." She mumbled while looking at the sheets in her hand.

I was going to make sure that my mate prevailed over my abuser. But I don't know if I can keep up. She's right I can't go. But I am still gonna try.

"Mate. This is for the best. I am a wild beast on the battlefield and I don't want you to be traumatized by my bloody vengeance. We might be going in blind but I have faith that my pack will prevail." Jung said while grabbing my hand like, this, was the last time we would see each other.

"I know I'm not in the best condition but I can help, please. I don't want y'all to go into a slaughter." I said trembling slightly.

"No and that's final," Jung said while leaving with me right behind him. If I would have just been cooperative. Either way, I can't go.

Unless we sneak in with them. They don't know that we're a werecat. I'll mask our scent like before. Ty-la said with a smirk in her voice.

I hope they win... because I'm coming.
