"I can hear her pacing on the second floor...she's not alone either." Sam and Bucky needed their suits, so they had to do a little turn around. And when they asked her why she wasn't putting on her suit, she reminded them for maybe the fifth time that she wasn't exactly "prepared" for the fighting. They also had to grab the earpieces that were given to them back in Madripoor. Apparently Sam and Sharon were still in contact with each other. That was the person he was always talking on the phone with. She was able to track Walker for us and warn us if he was going to get in the way at any point.
They turned into the plaza, entering the courtyard. The three of them looked up, and immediately spotted the curly red hair of Karli. She was facing away from them, leaning against a pillar.
The three of them ran up the stairs to the side to the side of them, and once at the top, Sam didn't waste a moment longer confronting her.
"Karli!" He walked towards Karli while her and Bucky stayed back. Karli looked over at them, unfazed. "You called my sister? That's how we gonna play this?"
"I would never hurt her. I just wanted to understand you better." Clara saw Karli's eyes quickly glance from Sam to her and Bucky, and back to her. She left her spot on the pillar and stood in the middle of the walkway. "I...see you didn't come alone."
"You have to end this now." Sam shouted up at her. Clara scooted closer to Bucky. He was staring intensely at Karli as she and Sam conversed.
"How many did you pick up?" He asked, not taking his eyes off Karli. Clara closed her eyes and took in a big whiff.
"I can't tell. I don't smell anyone, but they know who they are dealing with by now to plan ahead." Suddenly, Sharon's voice tan gun her ear.
"Guys, the new Cap, is here." She and Bucky looked at each other, then they looked at Sam."It's Walker." Sam told them.
"Go get 'em." Bucky nodded and launched himself over the wall, but for some reason, one that Clara wasn't expecting, Karli laughed herself off the side as well and rammed herself into Bucky, who was thrown into the wall. Sam then launched himself over the edge and grabbed Karli, separating her from Bucky. Clara looked around, having no idea what to do, until finally she just decided to jump down and join them.
Karli was off to the side, getting up.
"We gotta get Walker." Sam told them. Clara looked down at Karli.
"You two go. I'll see if I can have a little heart-to-heart with her."
"Don't you remember what happened last time? Let's go!"
"Well, no offense, but girls gotta talk with girls sometimes. Plus, you tow will be keeping Walker busy this time. Goodbye." Clara turned away from them and started to ease closer to Karli, who was now on her knees. Behind her, she heard Bucky's feet as they ran away, and Sam's loud jet pack got quieter.
Clara squatted down next to Karli. She pushed herself off her hands and sat on her legs.
"You can't stop this, you know?" She said in this threatening tone. "You remember how talking went last time." Clara shrugged.
"Well this time, it really is just you and me." Karli glared at her through her mask and Clara sighed. "Okay, come on, take off the mask. It's not like you are hiding your identity or anything like that. You literally have an app that helps your followers find you." Karli stood up, and towered over her, but Clara just stayed put.
"You can't hold me hostage here. Eventually I'll catch up to your friends." She paced back and forth.
"Oh, I'm not holding anyone hostage. You could leave right now, I'm not gonna stop you." She stopped pacing. Clara smiled. "But I have a feeling you are up for a little chit-chat."
