As we sat at the table finishing up our slices, I knew I had to ask him the question I had sitting in the back of my mind.

"So, who played Macbeth?" I didn't want to pry, but I was also wondering if there was anything going on. He thought a little bit before answering.

"Oh that was Sally." He smiled at me and fidgeted with his fork. I nodded and stayed quiet for a second before adding,

"So are you two, together?" His face fell. Oh shit, I messed up. I thought worriedly to myself.

"Uh no. I mean, we might have been a while ago, but I screwed that up." He nervously chuckled and I asked him one more question.

"Oh I'm sorry." I knew I had gone too far, but I continued. "But what do you mean you 'screwed it up'?" Y/N, you're on thin ice with this guy. I scolded myself for being so nosy but he said more.

"Well I kind of acted like she was mine," he made air quotes with the last part. "And then I bought her a laptop which was like, half her rent or something." He scratched the back of his neck and became a bright shade of red. I thought over what he said.

"Well, that was nice of you to get her a laptop." I said, cringing at my words. He nodded and looked down at his lap.

The waiter came over to hand us the bill. As he reached to his wallet, I said,

"Oh don't worry about it."

He looked up and asked,

"Are you sure?"

"Of course. It's my treat." I smiled and he smiled back. I put my credit card in the check slip and added a tip. A little bit later we were all set to go.

As we walked back to our cars, he said,

"Hey Y/N," he paused.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Thanks for coming to the show, I'm glad you found the poster." I chuckled to myself and said,

"You're welcome Barry. I really enjoyed it." I saw him smile as he unlocked his car. As I drove off I thought to myself,

I guess he's not so bad after all.
