Lillie and I walked through the gate of the Trainers' School, and were met with Kukui and an unfamiliar woman. "Hey there, Elaine! I must've passed you two somehow, yeah?"
"It wouldn't be too hard," I said. "After all, we both got kinda distracted along the way." And I was battling trainers and wild Pokemon, but I didn't feel the need to mention that. "But what am I supposed to do here?"
"Four trainers!" Kukui said. "You've got to beat four Pokemon Trainers here at the school, Elaine!"
That makes all the battling I did in vain, doesn't it? Ah well, I was able to see grass not too far away anyways, so I'll be able to meet a new friend soon. "Let's go, guys!" I said, letting all of my Pokemon out of their Pokeballs as I ran towards the grass.
And in between the blades of grass, two leaves stuck out. Ruinare ran up to it, yanking it up with his teeth.
"G-..Gah! What was that for?!" The Pokemon snapped. From what I've learned, this was a Turtwig. Tenebris dashed into it, knocking it back into its shell. While it hid, I threw a Pokeball at it.
"Gotcha," I said, smirking to myself. I sent the Turtwig out of his Pokeball. He immediately bowed his head nervously. Despite his meek demeanor, I couldn't help but feel a sort of darkness around him. I hummed, but shook that thought off. It must just be me. "Hey, little dude. I'm Elaine," I told him. "And I'll call you...Silva."
"O-...Okay," he said. It looked as if he would go back into his shell any second.
"Don't worry," Tenebris said. "Miss Elaine is a kind person, you don't have to worry about a thing. And, uh, sorry about tackling you a second ago..."
"It's fine," Silva said, glancing back at Ruinare distrustfully. "Why did you bite me..?"
Ruinare shrugged. "I just wanted to make it easier to catch you. Elaine wanted to catch someone, so I helped."
"It worked," I said, petting his head. "But be a bit more careful next time, okay? I don't want you getting hurt because you pissed off a strong Pokemon."
"Okay!"
"Alright, meeting over," Odium said. "Let's go win!"
...
"Oi," the boy standing out on the battlefield said. "Looks like you beat everybody else, huh?"
"Yep," I said. "So now you have to battle me."
The boy smirked in response. "Don't think you'll be able to beat me so easily," he said, throwing out a Pokeball. "Go, Mr. Mime!"
Ugh, I never liked Mr. Mime. It's creepy. "Go, Odium!"
"Use Meditate!" The Mr. Mime glowed a bright blue.
Meditate? Not the smartest decision. "Night Shade!" Odium shot a pitch black beam out of her eye, striking the Mr. Mime.
"Now, Confusion!"
A blue wave of psychic energy knocked Odium back a little, but she stood right back up again. "Night Shade, again!"
This time when Odium attacked, it was strong enough to knock out the Mr. Mime. The boy growled as he returned the Pokemon to its Pokeball. "Ugh, fine, I know when I'm beat. To prove it, I'll even give you a reward." He handed me a disc. "It's a technical machine. It can teach some of your Pokemon a new move."
Ding-ding~
"Attention all students," the voice said. "Would Elaine please come to the office on 2F?"
"What?" Silva said. "What did we do wrong?"
I shook my head. "Nothing," I said. "I'm sure it's just the teacher trying to congratulate us on beating everyone."
I headed up the steps, only Tenebris following me now, as I brought the others back into their Pokeballs. And on the second floor was the same woman I saw earlier. "Is something wrong?" I asked.
"Elaine, I can't believe that you beat all of my students! Fantastic!" She said, clapping. "After seeing such a performance, I think I'd like to battle you myself!"
Looking down to Tenebris, I said, "I think I can do that."
The teacher sent out a Dwebble, and I let Tenebris run out in front of me.
"Use Withdraw!" The teacher commanded. Dwebble went into its shell at her command. I didn't even have to say anything for Tenebris to use Dragon Rage, knocking out the Dwebble instantly. "Nice! Maybe you'd like to take over as teacher here for me!" She joked, handing me Great Balls.
Kukui and an unfamiliar man came up the stairs behind me. "Greetings!" The man said. "Captain Ilima here. I couldn't help but observe your battles, you did delightfully."
"Thank you," I said.
"I look forward to seeing the brilliance of your moves in my trial."
Trial, wasn't that what I was supposed to beat for my Island Challenge? I didn't realize it would be happening so soon, maybe we should get some rest before all of that.
I exited the building, saying a farewell to the people at the Trainers' School, and walked past the gate with Lillie. "You know... I was really impressed seeing how you battled with your Pokemon at the Trainers' School. It feels like you're really giving it your all for your Pokemon's sake."
"Haha, if I don't put in any effort, I doubt my Pokemon would either," I said.
Lillie smiled at my response before stopping in her tracks. "Oh, I forgot about Tauros!"
The Tauros that stood there an hour or so ago was still standing in the middle of the street. "Ho! If it isn't Lillie and Elaine. Sorry for scaring you, friend. I guess it's time I get old Tauros back home."
"Uhm, before you do," I started, "can I pet him?"
"I don't see why not!"
I cautiously stepped up to the Tauros, and stroked its face. The Tauros was a lot less scary than I remember it being. Perhaps it was just because I was younger, and Tauros is such a big Pokemon, especially to a child. Hala walked away with the Tauros.
"Kahunas sure are something, eh?" Hau said. "Able to calm a raging Pokemon without even needing to battle...Now that's something!" After waving at Hala, Hau turned back to Lillie and I. "So, where are you two off to now?"
"I was thinking I should show Elaine around Hau'oli City a bit," Lillie responded. "We should all go together."
Hau ran forward, leaving Lillie and I behind.
