As our team stepped away from the previous battle we had against a preschooler, Ruinare shouted something out. "Waaiit!!" I turned back to look at him, only to see that he was glowing white. Evolution, maybe? But I've never had one of my Pokemon evolve before. Alas, I didn't have a lot of time to think about what could be happening when it already finished. Either way, as I suspected, Ruinare evolved. And now, he was bigger than he was before.

Ruinare examined his new form for a moment

Ruinare examined his new form for a moment. "Ah, cool," he said, smiling to himself. "Bet you didn't see that coming!"

"Sure didn't, buddy." I ruffled the fur atop his head.

I once again tried to walk forward, before being punched in the leg by a Crabrawler. It practically dragged me over to the motel beside me. But wait, it's still early in the afternoon, we don't need to rest.

"My Crabrawler sure is something, ain't he?" The man running the motel waved me over. "He nabs passerby to bring them to me, so I can send them down by the bay."

"He's definitely devoted to his job," I said, rubbing at my aching leg.

"I've actually go no vacant rooms to give you today," the man said. Then why drag me over here..? "But that doesn't mean you've come for nothing! Here, follow me this way."

I followed him off to the beach, avoiding a surfer that appeared to be looking for a fight. Speaking of surfers, they were everywhere. But they weren't riding boards, they were riding Mantine! This place looked fun, but...

"Hey, little cousin!" A woman ahead shouted to me. "Welcome to Big Wave Beach!" Big Wave Beach? Who named this place? "You've come to exactly the right place if you're looking for some Mantine Surf!"

Ah, that would explain it. "Oh, thank you, but I don't know how," I said, rubbing the back of my neck.

"Yeah, I get it! Don't worry, surfing can be a dangerous sport, so you should come back after you're as tough as a real Kahuna, okay? We'll be waiting for you!"

Uh oh. What did I just get myself into? As I tried to leave the beach, I nearly got knocked over by two men dressed as skeletons or something. Right, Team Skull. I groaned as I followed them, since I would probably have to deal with these guys again.

"Oh. Team Skull. You know you guys can't ride here," the woman said, sighing.

"What's up with that?! We look like kids to you or somethin'?!" One of the grunts said, doing his usual stupid dance.

"No. The real reason is that you keep up those ridiculous dance moves, even on Mantine's back. And then you end up in the water."

I laughed at the thought, but now I had to chase these losers away. "Alright, you two. Head off, you know you won't win," I said.

"Hey! You're that kid!" One of the grunts said.

"You wanna scrap, tiny Trainer? A battle, yo?" The other grunt said.
