With the sun setting over the horizon, her wedding with Prince Carlos was less than a day away. Princess Gianna stands at her floor to ceiling window, staring out at the royal docks.

Dread courses through her vains as his Spanish ship becomes more and more visible.

She looks away from the view and instead pays attention to a festival being held in the village. Carts of food and live entertainment are raging loudly up to the castle. It wasn't an unusual experience, but a joyous one that she would've enjoyed if it was anyone else.

Instead, all she felt was betrayed by her parents, who knew that she did not want to marry Carlos. Yet, it was still happening.

There was a soft knock on her door.

Someone softly spoke from the other side, "Soy yo, Gianna." She immediately understood it wasn't her younger sister Marina, who never bothered knocking or whispering. (Translation: "It's me, Gianna.")

So she turned and allowed him inside.

Half of her feared that she would be getting arrested and thrown inside the dungeon. But relief washed over her when her older brother Luis walked in, acting nonchalant.

A moment of silence passed between them before he stated, "There will be commoner clothing outside in the royal farm. There is a large outhouse there that will give you two a place to change. After, run to the dock and get on a boat."

Gianna was so overcome with joy that she sprinted across her room and into the arms of Luis.

The idea of running away with Marina came to the young lady last night. And just a few hours later, he thought of the perfect plan.

She thanked him earnestly for his assistance in Spanish. "Buena suerte con las consecuencias, hermano. Y lamento las dificultades." (Translation: "Good luck with the aftermath, brother. And I'm sorry for any hardships.")

Luis pulls away and shakes his head. "No. Do not be sorry, Gianna." He took both her hands and began, "Find someone who will love, take care of, and hold you dearly."

His fate was similar to hers, but they were equally in love with each other before getting engaged. Carlos was out of nowhere and threatened to have her live unhappy.

Just then, the door swung open, and Marina walked in.

The sisters were dresses to attend the village festival once Carlos arrived, and Marina was in an airy purple dress that shifted to green in a certain light. Her older sister has a corset encrusted in rubies and a large radiant red shirt.

Once Marina closed the door, Gianna began to ask, "Have you brought-"

"Yes, do not worry." She assured her by pulling out a small crossbody bag with the strap wrapped around her leg. "I brought all of great grandmother's jewelry we inherited."

From outside over the village noise, a ship horn honked. It alerted the siblings that it was finally time to put their plan motion.

The sisters took each other by the hand, and after saying a final goodbye to Luis,  ran down the hall and four flights of stairs.

With every step, the horn became louder, and freedom seemed closer to reach.

While running through another hall, underneath a random door was a beaming white light. It was so bright that the sisters stopped, enticed by its light and under its trance.

When one of their hands reached for the door knob, it caused the light to somehow get brighter.

As they turned the knob, an overwhelming strength forced the door to open completely and pulled them through.
