Kaneki's Suffering

Chapter 12

- Next Morning -

"Mnnnn..." Touka moaned and turned to the other side. She opened her eyes and in front of her was Kaneki sleeping on his side.

His white hair shined in the light and the innocence showed on the sleeping face, makes him look more vulnerable than usual. Touka looked at his face. He had long eyelashes and a slim nose. His lips looked very tasty and Touka wanted to put her lips on his but decided not to as she didn't want to wake him up.

Touka snuggled into his chest and inhaled his scent. She couldn't put to words to describe his scent because it was unique. A ghoul with a human smell. That's what everyone says. But Touka knows Kaneki has another smell that's only she can tell as she's the closest to him.

"Mm.." Kaneki rubbed his eyes and opened them. "Touka...chan?"

Touka looked up from his chest. "Sorry did I wake you?"

"No..." He hugged her. "Hey will you call my name?"

Touka blushed. "K-Ken."

Kaneki smiled. "Thank you. Touka."

A question came to Touka's mind. "Hey how come we survived after doing it? I thought we would die."

"Oh about that, I asked Yoshimura. He told me to eat more human meat to heighten the chances."

Touka's eyes widened. "And you ate more human meat? I'm sorry if I knew I wouldn't have asked you that stupid question..." Touka looked guilty. She knew how much Kaneki hated eating human meat.

"It's alright Touka. I did it of my own will. No one forced me. I'll do anything for you, Touka." Kaneki stroked her hair.

"Even if it's something you hate?"

"Yes. So don't apologize."

"Okay. I won't. Hey. Promise me that you'll be by my side forever and won't leave me like father or Ayato."

"I promise. Touka-chan, thank you for everything. Thanks to you, I feel really at ease now. Promise me that if I ever go berserk or try to hurt someone, save me. "

"Mm. I promise."

"Hey Touka-chan. Remember when I first became a ghoul? You asked me how cake tastes like."

"Yeah I did. Why?"

"I just want to tell you that cake tastes like this." Kaneki leaned down and kissed Touka. Touka kissed back. The kiss left a very sweet taste in their mouths. "Cakes tastes sweet like this."

Touka's face turned pink. "Bakaneki. I love you."

"I love you too Touka-chan."
