Hi again!

Is this fluff ? Is this angst ?

Who knows

A rooftop conversation between them has never felt so tense.

Below them, the citizens watched with evident confusion, not sure what to make of what they were seeing.

It was kind of comedic, one moment they were amidst a fight, both of them on the verge of a breakdown, the next they were standing on the roof of a building high above talking about an alternate timeline where a bleached Chat Noir ended humanity.

Ladybug felt like she was reliving the events she spoke of. Even after all these years, the pain of it all still lingered no matter how hard she suppressed it.

She was leaning on the railings, her expression, tired and devoid of its usual warmth, down to the city.

"I never knew how or why you were akumatized, Bunnyx made it clear that I was to undo the destruction and fix the timeline, she gave me no further information. But you- the you of that timeline, he knew my identity and kept saying that our love was the reason things turned out that way and I." She let out a sound that bordered a sigh and a humorless chuckle "I guess, now I can see how that would have been possible."

She drew a deep breath then released it in a long exhale, she could feel the dam breaking "It was horrible, the city was flooded, and everything about that place felt dreadful and you kitty," a sobbed slipped through her defenses " you looked so broken and ... and ... it pained me to see you that way, psychotic but lonely beyond comprehension,

"It was awful kitty, absolutely awful, I promised myself I'd never let that happen to you. It was when I realized just how truly dear you were to me. And it just kept haunting me. He used to plague my nightmares and God I just- it's the second worst akuma I had ever faced."

Chat stood silent for a moment, as he watched her. He'd never seen her look so... tired.

She had her elbows on the railings, with one arm perpendicular to them as she rested her forehead in the palm of her hand covering her eyes, and possibly her tears.

At that moment he forgot she was only 18.

"So, I killed you..." he managed with a weak voice " The you from that timeline I mean."

"That's all that stuck to your mind?" she didn't move from her position, except there was a defeated smile that tug lightly at the corners of her lips "actually, I'm not surprised that's what you're focusing on-

"Of course it is, because that's the only thing that matters. Because you're the only thing that matters to me."

That's when she turned her head to look at him.

He returned her gaze and in that brief moment, he noticed her eyes, the very eyes that once shone with enough light to illuminate the entire galaxy, were dull, their fierce passion for life extinguished by the responsibilities that were dumped on her since... the age of 14? 13 maybe?

God, just how much pressure has she been sheltering inside her exhausted body?

He hated seeing her like that, a shell of her old self, especially since her 'old self' was from not even a day ago.

Or so he thought.

She, on the other hand, saw a glint of optimism and hope she found herself unable to return.
