the tension was thick and noticeable after lizzie blurted out those words. hope's eyes widened. lizzie took a gasp and stood back. "what the fuck?" lizzie said to herself. anger and forgiveness filled her head. "i came here to get rid of you, not confess my undying love for you." hope stayed silent at lizzie's words. "i guess deep down, i knew i could never do it. it just felt good to think so." lizzie looked up, defeatedly. her eyes widened when she finally looked at hope. "lizzie..." hope finally blurted out.

emotion filled the room.

"hope? is it really you?" lizzie was weary if hope's emotion was really back, or if it was just a ploy to get rid of lizzie. hope stayed silent after lizzie's question. "i think so." hope finally muttered. "i just felt this wave of emotion." she continued. lizzie smiled faintly. happiness filled her. lizzie pulled hope in for a hug. hope smiled, tears filling her eyes.

there was silence for a moment, just faint sniffles every now and then. hope then pulled away, looking at lizzie dead in the eye. there was still an undying silence between them. hope pulled in lizzie and gave her a small peck on the lips.

lizzie smiled, faintly. but then, a sudden uncertainty flushed over her. hope's eyes were still dull and dark. lizzie played it cool. she wasn't one hundred percent sure. "remember when the school had a drama class?" lizzie backed away from hope's grip. hope looked her up and down. "yeah. why?" she raised an eyebrow. "did you ever participate?" hope wiped her soon to be dry tears and looked at lizzie with accusing eyes. "at some point i did. but may i ask again, why?" lizzie pulled the tribrid kryptonite back out of her bag. hope looked at it, speechless. she didn't know what to think.

"you're kidding, right?"
"not at all."

tension once again filled the room. this time, it thick and musky. it suggested ulterior motives from both of the girls. "why would i fake my humanity twice in a row?" hope crossed her arms firmly. lizzie never thought about this. but when she did, she didn't change her mind.
"because you're a snake."

"excuse me?"
"you heard me."
"hm, i would look good in snake skin."

there it was. hope's ulterior motives. lizzie wasn't just some dumb blonde. she easily put it together. "well," hope stepped forward. "you figured it out." she smiled. she was genuinely impressed with lizzie. she looked at the way she was holding the steak. firm, but shaky. lizzie was still vulnerable. "you're looking at me like i'm some evil vampire, creature of the night." she said. lizzie slowly nodded. "but you're not looking at me as a witch with pots and potions." she waved her hand, and said the one word lizzie prayed she wouldn't.
"incendia."
