"You're up next Bear" your mother in law, Taehyung's mother said as he was playing with his brother's daughter.
The smile on his face turned into a frown when he heard that and he looked at you with hopeless eyes.
You were at Taehyung's parent's house. His brother was blessed with a beautiful baby girl a few days ago and after they were discharged from the hospital, they threw a welcome party for the baby. Everyone was so excited for them to come home and especially Taehyung because his brother promised him to be his daughter's godfather.
Ever since his parents got the news of their older son having a baby, they were pestering you both to have your own as well. You've been married for 2 years to him and it was right about time to start a family but for some reason you never talked about it. You both were happy with how things were but deep down, you always wanted him to initiate the talk. You wanted a kid so bad and now watching your sister-in-law having one, your desire only grew stronger.
His mother took the baby from Taehyung's hands when she started crying and gave it back to her mother. She sat down beside him with a hand over his own.
"It's about time you plan a baby too. It's been long enough already" she said, running her wrinkled thumb over the back of his hand. He smiled and nodded his head in agreement. You were watching everything from the nearby couch and got super giddy at the thought of finally having a baby with him.
After an extra long dinner and some more talks at the Kim residence, you went back to your house. Taehyung drove back in sheer silence. His hands were over yours in your lap the whole ride while he was drawing small circles on your skin every now and then. The atmosphere was so tense for some reason but you didn't push to ask him any further.
When you arrived at your house, he went to change into his casual sweats for the night. You followed him behind and changed into one of his shirts and your sleeping shorts as well.
He looked distorted when he joined you on the bed. You were reading a book but when the heavy sign reached your ears, you closed the book and kept it on the nightstand.
"What's up baby?" you asked, leaning over his side of the bed.
"Nothing. Just tired" his short responses were enough to tell you something huge is bothering him and for some reason, you feared it's what you are thinking it is.
So followed by a deep breath, you asked "Is it about what mom said back there? About starting a family because if it is.. "
"Y/N, baby you know how I feel about having a kid" he cut you in between and shunned you with his statement.
Does he not like kids? Will he never be ready to be a father?
"What do you mean Tae?" You couldn't stop but ask. You honestly didn't want to hear his answer because you feared it would be heartbreaking. He took a deep breath before turning around facing you.
"I.. I don't know if I'm capable of being a father Y/N" he said, looking down at your intertwined fingers.
"Why would you say that Tae? You're the most caring man I've ever seen" you cupped his cheeks, reassuring him.
"It's a big responsibility Y/N and with me being busy most of the time, I doubt I'll ever be able to be what a child needs." he said once again. His voice was low and on the verge of cracking.
"Look at me Tae!" you said making him face you. "You're already everything a child needs. You're enough. Even with the busy schedule, you've proved time and time that nothing comes above family for you. You've made through so much being who you are and I can never be more proud of you" You said caressing his face. He looked up at you and his eyes were glistening.
