Romanoff's POV

A full weekend without seeing her, every week it gets harder and harder. Especially now that we talk daily. I genuinely considered visiting her at her house, but if I did that and it made her uncomfortable, I'd probably ruin everything we've got going, even if it's not a lot.

Finally, it's Monday. I dress for work in a white shirt, black leggings and a belted beige jacket with brown lace up boots.
I've got to be careful with what I wear for the next week or so, my boss wasn't too happy with Friday's outfit.

As I arrive at work, I unlock my classroom and head in. I'm running slightly later than I would've like but I had to stop at a store and pick up a gift for Y/N. Nothing huge or super expensive, of course.
It has to be a gift that you'd expect a teacher to get a student.

I put my things down and turn around, she walks in, just in time. It's so good to see her.

Y/N's POV

Natasha smiles at me and walks over, she's got a card and a small purple box in her hands.
"How was your weekend?" She asks me as I sit down.
"It was alright, nothing exciting." I look up at her, she puts the card down in front of me along with the box.

It's a birthday card and chocolates.

I put on a smile and pick up the card,
"How did you know?" I ask as I read.
"I heard Brad asking you about it on Friday." She walks back over to her desk.

'Happy birthday, Y/N.
I know it's a little late but I hope you won't mind, hope you get everything that you want.
- Natasha Romanoff'

That's thoughtful.
"I didn't know if you'd like the chocolate, if you don't I can go get something else for you." She types her password into her laptop and preps for the lesson.
"Chocolate's just fine, you didn't have too though." I have a quick look at them.
"Oh, it was no problem." She walks back over to me and sits on desk in front of me.

"You didn't have a party or anything?"
"I spent my weekend playing games with online friends, buying myself way too much and eating takeaway." I laugh.
"That sounds like fun." She says with a smile, not exactly convincing though. She probably expected a party and a decent amount of drinking.
"It's pretty much what I do every weekend that I'm not working." I shrug. She laughs and walks back over to her desk.
"Fair enough, where do you work?"
"Oh, I work at the cafe we went to on Thursday." I smile.

I was fairly awkward on Friday, hopefully she's forgotten about that though.

"What are you teaching today?" I ask. It's still a few minutes until other people will start showing up.
"Knowing you, something you already know." Natasha remarks with a smirk. I laugh slightly.

"What do you mean?" I ask her.
"Oh come on," Natasha starts, "I know that you know everything there is to this class. I bet I could give you the final exam now and you'd pass."
I laugh at that, she's exaggerating a little much.
"I just listen to you."

She stops what she's doing and turns to me.
Her eyebrow perks up.
"Show me your notebook then." There's that devilish look again.
"Fine." I reach into my backpack and pull out my notebook, I know it's got barely any notes in it. It's mostly doodles. I open it up and she takes a look through.
"Very thorough note-taking." She says sarcastically as she looks at a page full of random words and drawings.
"Well, look here." I flip to a page with about three sentences of notes, the rest is games of tic tac toe.
"Oh, wow. You could write a novel with these notes."
"Aww, but then no one would come to your class." We both laugh.
"They would if you were teaching it." She slides my notebook back to me and walks back to her desk.

Students start walking in and so I put my notebook away. And I'm about to put the gifts away too but Brad and Amy spot them, of course.
"A gift?" Brad starts, "From who?" He leans over, trying to read the card.
"None of your business, man." I respond and push him away from the card, he walks to the back of the classroom to his desk.
Amy-Leigh sits down next to me.
"Who's it from?" She tries to snatch the card, I push her hand away.
"Doesn't matter." I say, she continues to try and grab the card. She manages to snatch the chocolates and when I try to take them back, she snatches the card too.

It's harder to fight with one hand.

"Natasha Romanoff, huh?" She waves the card around. I manage to snatch it back from her. Natasha starts handing out the test papers from last week with the results on them.
"Why did she sign it with her first name?" Amy-Leigh prys, "Is it because you bought her coffee?"
"Why does it matter that she put her first name on it?" I ask, "And I bought her coffee 'cause I was getting myself some."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah."

"How did you know what coffee she drinks?" Amy pokes me in the sides, quite literally prying even more.
"She bought me coffee the day before because... y'know." I hold up my bandaged hand.

Natasha makes her way over to us and gives Amy her test results. Amy looks at her test, she's not exactly pleased.
"If you need any help, just ask." Natasha says to Amy, she then turns to me.
"You already know your results, Y/N." She smiles and continues handing out test results.

"She just bought you coffee?" Amy asks,
"We ate food, talked and then she walked me home." I say fairly quietly.
"She walked you home?" Amy practically screams... of course she does.
"It was dark and she insisted, it's not that big of a deal."

"Quiet, please." Natasha announces from the front of the room. She watches me as I put the chocolate and the card away. Natasha starts teaching as normal.

Midway through the lesson, she asks a question and directs her attention to me. Of course, I had no clue what she was talking about.
"Anything to add, Y/N?"
"No, I've got nothing to add." I say, luckily the way that she phrased it could be easily avoided.
"Pay attention, please."

Is she joking or is she genuinely telling me to pay attention? We talked about it earlier and she didn't seem to have a problem.

"I am paying attention, Professor Romanoff. I always am." I respond, she smiles and continues the lesson. My eyes follow her, just in case she looks back to check if I'm listening.

Amy-Leigh leans over,
"I am paying attention, Professor Romanoff. I always am." She mocks me. "Are you flirting with her?"
I look at Amy-Leigh and furrow my brow,
"I don't think that listening is flirting, Amy."

Am I flirting? It wasn't intentional but maybe I was flirting. Have I been flirting with her this whole time?

Class starts finishing up, everyone gets ready to go but for some reason, I just don't want to leave.

I probably shouldn't do this, but what the hell.
As I stand up to leave, I place my phone on my chair. I walk with Brad and Amy-Leigh and we're headed for the canteen before the end of the day.

I reach into my pocket, where I normally put my phone and I put on my best 'oh shit' face.
"Oh, I left my phone! I'll meet you guys there." I turn and start walking back to Professor Romanoff's classroom.
