Chapter 12

-3rd Person POV-

Dolores walked in with Isabela. "So how is Mariano?" Dolores asked a hint of jealousy in her tone. "He is great.." Isabel said her tone annoyed. "Thought he won't stop talking about having our wedding so soon." Isabela laughed awkwardly. "I hope it will be a while though.." Isabela smiled and Dolores nodded. "Understandable." Dolores smiled and batted her eyes.

"Hey guys!" Y/N said walking in. The two girls looked over at her. They waved and smiled. "Hello Y/N." Isabela said. "My mamá is cooking." Isabela said. Y/N nodded and headed off to the kitchen. She stopped and looked around before walking in.

"Hmm.." she walked off down the hall. She headed up the steps and looked around. Making sure no one could see her she headed up to Bruno's room. She looked at his boarded up door.

"I'll need something to get these planks off..for now." She headed down. "Ope! Hi Dolores.." Y/N said running into the woman. "Hello Y/N." She said smiling. "I see you're umm.. going near Bruno's room." She said motioning to his room. "Oh umm just curious. You know.. since no one talks about him." Y/N said nervously. "Yes my Mamá doesn't like his name being said. Abuela knows most about him. Maybe you could talk to her. But be careful." Dolores says walking away. "She's very sensitive about that topic." She said walking away. Y/N stared at the woman as she walked off.

-Y/N POV-

"Weird.." I thought out loud and walked off going to find Abuela. Okay I have to be careful about this. Just ask her like it's a simple question. "Hey so about your son Bruno who was he? I thought to my self trying to plan out a way to ask her.

as I was deep in thought I pumped into someone. "Oh hello Y/N." Abuela Alma said looking at me. I smiled and stood up straight. "Hello Abuela Alma." I said waving slightly. "What brings you here? Helping Julieta again?" She asked smiling a little. "I was wondering.. strange question but what did Bruno look like?" I asked nervously. Her face twisted into a mix is emotions. "Ah Bruno..well he was short and had curly brown hair. That's all anyone needs to know. We don't talk about him. He left this family and so we forget.." Abuela Alma said blinking away tears. "It was his choice." She said her tone stern and her emotions going cold. "Why so curious about Bruno?" She asked walking down the hall. I followed her. "I was just curious as to why his door was boarded up. No one in town talks about him." I shrugged.

"Good reasons not to. I own nothing of his anymore. Threw it all away. Don't go snooping for things about him. It's best he's forgotten." She said giving me a look and walking off.

"Theres gotta be something." I groan and walk off heading down the hall. I bumped into a table. I looked at the picture I tipped over. Holding it up so I could see it.

It was a family portrait. Mirabel looked around three and so did Camilo. Dolores Luisa and Isabela young kids. Everyone else looked slightly younger too. There was a person in the back. His picture was torn out of the frame. "Huh.." I said sliding the picture out off the frame. I looked on the back. 'The Madrigal Family Photo." Was written on the back. "That's gotta be Bruno.. if I can find this missing piece.." I fold the picture up and put it in my pocket.

I opened the tables little drawer and slid the frame into it. Closing the drawer and walking off.

"Y/N hello." Julieta said smiling. "You coming to the party tonight?" She asked walking over. I jumped startled. "Oh a party? I didn't know there was a party." I said confused. "It's just a little something we do once a month. Games for the kids and drinks for the adults." She smiled and walked down the hall. Mirabel and the others are helping the towns people set up." She said as I followed her outside. "I brought the food down a little bit ago." Julieta said.

"Oh.. well I guess I won't be much help." I said following her down to the middle of town. Everyone was out and about getting read and setting up. Luisa was moving things, Isabela making flowers, Camilo setting things up and Mirabel was hammering decorations. Pepa and Felíx were getting the drinks. "Agustín is making the fire." Julieta said and walked over to a food stand.

"we're almost ready for tonight. It's getting late anyways." She said looking around and then at the sun set. "It's beautiful out here." She smiled and I nodded my head in agreement.

- Time Skip ( 1 hour (party time) ) -

I looked around at everyone dancing, eating or playing with sparklers. The town really went all out for this party. I smiled and headed over to get a drink. Mirabel walked up to me. "Oh hello Mirabel." I said smiling at the girl as I held my cup. "Hey Y/N..pretty nice party Huh?" She asked looking around. "Ya sure is." I agreed and looked at the sky. "I just wanted to say thank you for helping my mamá out. She really enjoys your company. It's nice to know she has a friend. Since my Tío Bruno left shes been a little sad.. I was young when he left but he was really close with her. So thanks for helping my mamá be her self again." She said smiling at me.

"Oh I'm sorry a Mirabel to hear that.. but I'm glad I'm helping your mamá." I ruffled her hair gently. "I'm gonna go find Antonio, good bye.. tía Y/N." She smiled then ran off. "Tía..?" I said out loud then smiled to my self.

I headed off to where everyone was dancing. I drank the rest of my alcohol and danced around. A pair of hands grabbed me and pulled me away. "Huh?" I asked confused. I looked at the person. Hernando was standing in front of me. "What are you doing here? I thought you weren't a party person." I crossed my arms.

"Ya well about that.. it doesn't matter. I wanted to see you." He rubbed his arm. "See me? You can't even see through that hood." I joked my words slurred slightly. "Come on Hernando, just take off the hood." I groaned and wrapped my arms around him. "No no I can't." He pushed me away gently.

"What's so bad about taking the hood off. Come on." I begged and made a sad face. "No.." he said again "why not? Don't you trust me?" I asked getting mad. I gave him a look. "I do! I do trust you but-" I cut him off "No buts! What's wrong why can't I see your face Hernando!" I asked raising my voice. "You just can't okay!" He yelled back and covered his mouth. "I'm sorry.. I'm really sorry.. you just can't.." he stepped back.

"I'll see you later Hernando." I walked off before he could say anything.

"You okay Y/N?" Julieta asked as she walked  up to me. "Ya I'm fine." I forced a smile and followed her back into the party.
