"Whoops."
Lucy hadn't meant to lose her temper, but her world had just been turned completely upside down.
Whoops wasn't really the right thing to say, but it was better than the curse words that came to mind.
She was reeling from the shock of it all as she staggered away from everyone and everything. Escape was the only thing on her mind.
She had gone in search of Manager Min, hoping to convince him to support her and Jinwoo. After Jinwoo took the risk to give her his precious heart, she couldn't just stand by and watch him face the consequences alone. If necessary, she was willing to beg Manager Min not to punish Jinwoo or reveal their relationship to the company.
Upon finding the managers grouped in the midst of a meeting, it was Manager Noh who greeted her. "Lucy, come on in. We're just discussing your situation."
Her situation?
They all looked pissed off - except Aera. She was shifting her weight from one foot to the other and struggling to give her direct eye contact.
Lucy knew what that meant. Aera was nervous.
It must mean that she was too late. Manager Min had already betrayed Jinwoo. He completely backflipped on his promise to help Jinwoo, turning him in to the company that threatened to sue him for breach of contract if he was ever caught dating again.
It made her furious.
"Can I speak to Manager Min for a moment in private?" she asked, amazed that her voice came out evenly. She had come with the intention of pleading with him but was now ready to give him a piece of her mind.
Manager Min stood up, backed away from the managers and led her into the next room.
"Lucy-"
"Manager Min!" Lucy exclaimed, her breath quickening as she struggled to hold back her tears. Just thinking of Jinwoo being punished and tormented by guilt filled her with grief.
"I have previously dated a celebrity in secret for two whole years and I have NEVER encountered a manager who cared so little for the well-being of the person in their care. How could you... how could you betray Jinwoo like this? I know you caught us, b-but we could have worked something out, you didn't have t-to report him like this!" she cried.
He tilted his head, looking at her curiously, "Lucy, have you checked your phone?"
"N-no. I turned it off..."
"That situation they're in the middle of discussing in there... it's not about you and Jinwoo."
"Then why did he say my situation...?"
"It's your situation with Cha Eunwoo."
"W-what are you talking about?" she stuttered, her mind racing. Was this about his stage? "I'm not responsible for Eunwoo's performance. If anyone should object to that, it should be me! I would never want him to convey his feelings like that... in front of all those people!" she cried.
"I know," he nodded sadly, "but it's not that, I'll get to that in a moment. About Jinwoo... I haven't reported him."
"You haven't?" she asked, her anger fizzling down to more of a simmer.
He shook his head. "I wouldn't do that to him. Maybe he knows it and that's why he's adamant about defying me on this."
"Then why are you against us? I mean, I know about his contract, but with a manager's help, a secret relationship can work. I know that from experience. I can promise you we'll be discrete, we'll be really careful..."
