Operation: Explosive mirrors

Red october pt. 2

Shawn's pov
       I followed Myth into the building, our guns raised each checking corners. The rest of the camp had been cleared, this was the last house he could be and I wanted him bad. I heard Blackbeard "I've got a signal from the room at 12 o'clock" I nodded and motioned to it. I saw Vix walk past me followed by the crew of the helicopter as we slowly made our way to the room. We stacked up and Blackbeard pressed a breaching charge against the door. He looked at me as I nodded and the charge kicked the door in, I side stepped around the door frame and saw a couple masks falling down at the sudden sound and pressure wave. We shot all but one, I walked up and smirked "Where is Tsar?" He coughed and said "I don't know what you're talking about" I looked back and nodded before saying "I think you do" as the team fixed their gas masks and checked the seal. The mask suddenly looked nervous as Myth pulled out a couple canisters of Smoke's gas and tossed them around the room. I said once more "where is tsar? Tell me and I give you a mask"
       He replied hurriedly "he's east in Ukraine" I nodded to myth and said "Specifics" as the gas canisters set off. The mask replied frantically "the government building, in Ukraine. He's meeting with a German arms dealer! They're discussing a deal!" I nodded and said "that's all we needed" before motioning out the door. The team slowly backed out as I heard the mask "you promised you'd give me a gas mask! You promised!" I replied coldly "I don't remember that" as I walked out I heard the coughing begin. About 30 seconds later it stopped, I knew the mask hadn't survived. I looked at Vix "get an extraction en route, were going back to base" I heard Blackbeard softly "I'm sorry we didn't get him" I waved him off and said "maybe it's time we let the new guys take the reigns. We're old Craig, we can't keep doing this" he nodded and said "that we are" half an hour later when the second Blackhawk touched down and we all started back to base I heard Six "So did you get him?" I replied simply "no ma'am, I'd like to retire" she asked intrigued "without getting him?"
        I replied easily "yes" before Craig added on "me as well" she sighed "very well, any usable intel?" I answered easily "there's a meeting in Ukraine at the government building between Tsar and a German arms dealer. Looks like the phone messages were correct." She replied "good, I'll get a team ready. I'll have the retirement packages ready" I leaned back and sighed, I didn't know what the future held but I was ready to move on. I heard Myth "how'd we do old man?" I laughed "you still have a lot to learn, but not half bad" Craig replied "well see how you handle these calls on your own" they nodded before I finished "you did good though, I'm sure you'll make fine operators" half an hour later when we touched down at base I saw Elena standing on the tarmac waiting. I climbed off once the chopper was steady enough we could and heard her yell "Ara told me you're retiring!" I nodded as she said "it's about damn time!" I just laughed and followed as she grabbed my wrist and dragged me through the base. It felt right. By the time we got back to our room, it was almost midnight. I laid in bed and thought about the closing of this chapter, wondering what the next one would be.
